Just verified in a Variety interview (the excerpt can be read at jwfan.com): Williams used the players from The BFG to record a new CD of Spielberg movie themes, to be released by Sony Classical next year! I couldn't be more excited!

I'm hoping for "Three Pieces from Lincoln" with the terrific concert arrangement of "Getting Out the Vote"

I seem to recall hearing that they recorded some of this album over at ROYCE HALL at UCLA.

Look forward to it myself.

That would be great, but... Is this your wishful thinking or you actually heard it from a reliable source?

If it ends up being 4 CDs of newly recorded material, that would be stunning. But if it is 4 CDs, I think it's more likely that Williams recorded 1 CD of new material and Sony is adding 3 CDs of previously available recordings they have the rights to. But who knows, maybe Williams recorded a lot of stuff over the years that never got released yet? There's the full 3 movement suite from Memoirs of a Geisha with Williams at the piano and Ma on cello that was only released as an mp3. I remember reading MANY years ago that Williams recorded the Seven For Luck song cycle for Sony, and that has never been released, so that could always be included (although not exactly Spielberg related); which is not entirely impossible as the Variations on Happy Birthday took a good 10 years or so to see the light of day on CD. Whatever it is, if it has some newly recorded material, I am there! (I hope for a concert arrangement of the Ark/Medallion theme!)

That's definitely a compilation of earlier music recorded with the Boston Pops and others, or from the various OSTs released on Sony Classical. The Star Wars CD must be the Skywalker Symphony album.

(Does the track listing REALLY say Sabrina, the Teenage Witch????? WRONG Sabrina!)

Why is "Sabrina The Teenage Witch" one of the credits on this album's back cover? I'm sure it's plain old "Sabrina" from 1995, but I certainly hope that cover was corrected before release.

Yeah that's bad proofreading. It's surely the recording from the Cinema Serenade album with Itzhak Perlman.

This is a Spielberg/Williams release, Johnny, so the things you mention there fall outside the scope of that topic.

If it's a 4-CD set (and not confused with the existing Sony 4CD set), my guess is the first two CDs will have the Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 of the previous Spielberg/Williams albums, and then the other two new recordings. If that is the case, I have this faint hope that they'll include a suite from A TIMELESS CALL, which is completely unreleased. As is SUGARLAND EXPRESS, of course, but I doubt we're going to see more than the theme from that while Williams is still alive.

Not exactly Thor, Memoirs was produced by Spielberg, so not entirely outside of the realm of possibilities that it could be included.

I think there may also be a new Boston Pops recording of John Williams music coming sometime next year. I was listening to WCRB (the local classical station in the Boston area) a few months ago and caught part of a broadcast of a Pops concert (it was NOT the film night concert), and they performed "Night Journeys" from Dracula and "Men of the Yorktown March" from Midway. The radio announcer said both pieces were being recorded for an upcoming album celebrating the music of John Williams. Next year is his 85th birthday, so maybe this and the now-confirmed Spielberg album will be released to coincide with that?

Below is the link to stream the concert on demand. The announcement of the upcoming recording is a little after the 14 minute mark.

It would be great if this album was almost a counterpart to the other one; focusing on some of his music aside from the Spielberg films....maybe it will include Force Awakens or prequel trilogy music. It's also encouraging to see they will be recording at least two "deep cuts" as it were, from his less famous scores in the 70s. I don't think anyone has ever recorded the full concert version of "Men of the Yorktown March," and "Night Journeys" has gone into semi-regular rotation in JW's concerts in recent years.

I suspect this is the album he reportedly did with the Force Awakens players, all (or mostly) Spielberg themes and coming in 2017...

I highly doubt it is the same album....the Pops concert was from the spring, whereas the news of the Spielberg album is much more recent, and everything I've heard and read about it says that it will be all Spielberg selections. I think this in fact will be a new Pops album with other selections. I'm hopeful it will include Force Awakens music.
