I'm not familiar with it - but I can tell you that our local HMV doesn't stock it, 'cos I just checked while having a walk out at lunchtime.

I too am a HUGE fan of the series. All I can do way out in The Rockies is wait for Amazon.com announce new series of episodes. I have never been a fan of police/detective tv shows. But, when you add the superb writing/direction/and the members of this cast PLUS the added unique ingredient of it all occuring in England during W.W.II, this makes for an intoxicating brew!
If there exists a cd of the show's music, it would be an interesting listen. The shows memorable main theme sounds VERY much like the opening theme from Phillip Glass's 'THE SECRET AGENT'. Well, parts of it.

Harkit Records released a CD for this show.

I know they have something about it on their website and I know Buysoundtrax stocks it here in the States.

Well... Opinions differ. I never have trouble with them. But they are friends of mine. I just looked on Amazon and it is out of stock.

It is possible to order direct from Harkit's website. They are in the UK.

Part of the BBC Masterpiece Theater and some of the best TV I've ever seen. I have the score and love the theme. The underscore/source music is great as long as you like the 40's material, which I do.

I didn't know the Masterpiece Theater was part of the BBC. For the record, Foyle's War was made by ITV, not the BBC.

As far as San Diego is concerned our PBS station offers installments on Masterpiece Theater. I meant PBS not BBC, my mistake. There are other programs also such as Inspector Lynley and others.

I believe that Inspector Lynley has now come to an end. One of my favourites is Midsomer Murders, but no U.S. channel seems interested in screening it, despite the following it has in the U.S. I guess BBCA won't screen the series, as they can't be trusted to show a series without pulling it.

I too love the score for Foyele's war and got a copy from Amazon.co.uk. The shipping rates to the US are better from man UK dealers and they do have some UK issues that are hard to find in the US.

MIDSOMMER MURDERS: I don't know why so few (shall we say none?) US broadcasters want to carry this: it is a delightful and can be dark and amusing at the same time (and I'd love to get the score for that too)

The Biography Channel used to screen the series in the U.S. before they lost the rights. There was talk of another channel in the U.S. screening the series, possibly BBC America, but nothing has been announced. I don't hold out much hope for BBCA, as their current output of programmes consists of reality shows, old sitcoms and fly-on-the-wall documentaries. Oh, and of course, Primeval. LOL
Thought you might like to know that there is a rather good site devoted to the series.

Thanks for the link to the midsommer site. I will definitely check it out. Yes, I do remember when Biography showed this. Got up early on weekends to catch it in California, but that was a while ago (I did not know that Biography lost the rights, I thought they didn't care as their overall programming [in my opinion at least] has totally gone down the tubes).

Biography treated tht show the way A&E treated MI-5. Well, maybe not exactly. MI-5 had alot of cuts made to it, and the channel had a total disregard towards the fans. Rather like BBCA. Fancy that. I think the best way to see these type of series is to buy the DVDs. Judging by the comments left on the MM message board, alot of the fans do that.

As the enormously popular mystery series returns, World War II is over, but the Cold War simmers in 1946 London. DCS Christopher Foyle (Michael Kitchen, Out of Africa) has retired from police work when Britain's secret intelligence service compels him to join its ranks. Reunited with his former colleague, newlywed Sam Wainwright (Honeysuckle Weeks), Foyle faces new-but no less deadly-threats in the world of spies and counterintelligence. Also starring Ellie Haddington (Life Begins), Tim McMullan (The Woman in Black), Jeremy Swift (Oliver Twist), Rupert Vansittart (Holy Flying Circus), and Daniel Weyman (Great Expectations).

The Eternity Ring - Returning from America, Foyle gets drawn into an MI5 investigation of a Russian spy ring in which Sam, his former driver, has been implicated.

The Cage - Foyle's inquiry into the deaths of several Russian defectors leads him to a mysterious military facility.

Sunflower - Foyle is charged with looking into assassination attempts against an ex-Nazi defector under MI5's protection.

On September 24th Acorn Media will release Foyle's War - Set 7 on DVD (3 discs) and high-def Blu-ray Disc (2 discs). Both versions are $49.99 SRP, and both come with extras in the form of Introductions by Writer, 4 Behind-the-Scenes Featurettes, and a Sets 1-6 Brief Recap.
