As a fan of the series I am sorry to write that series 8 does appear to be the end ... that said, the post war episodes have been far less compelling (interesting, enjoyable) so perhaps it is best to leave it on a (relative) high note. For me it's been consistently the best TV series for a long time with only the BBC's Shetland having as much pulling power.
