Hoppy Noo Yeer, Ron II Department:

neotrinity: This slipped past me!!! Thanks! I may have taken one of those pictures -- the one with Sloan looking to the left, hand on head, with the bananas around her waist. She's used some of my pics for later publicity for her great one-woman show as Josephine. Can't believe I overlooked this!!!!!! (I just sent her a copy of this and asked her to try to find this site!!!)

Love the shots of Ruby! Loved her! (My own mother, who is 92 and in failing health, is also named Ruby.)

Follow-Up: Earlier today (Sunday), while channel surfing, I spotted the unmistakeable Ms. Dee, and the camera pulled back for us to see Ossie Davis. It was Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing." I didn't watch much of it this time, but it was great to see both of 'em! We'll always have them!

It always bemuses us no end most everyone can conjure up the name of every nubile whose ever flitted across small or big screens (and call themselves 'movie lovers') but can rarely recognize, let alone name and forget about have been exposed to endless actresses of color whose allure and accomplishment goes far beyond their terminally-arrested adolescent hormones. Such was Lee Chamberlin, who died of cancer this past May.

We first became aware of her when she starred in Penn State's 1970 spring production of "Medea", where her fiery intensity

and tangible intelligence rescued an otherwise underwhelming production.

Her established credits on stage echoed on teevee opposite Morgan Freeman's Easy Reader

along with Bill Cosby, who she later rejoined beaming aboard his mid-70s

with El Sid.

She also, among many other credits, played Cordelia opposite
James Earl Jones' "Lear".

No, you won't see her replicated endlessly as an object

but she will be remembered for her artistry ...

This thread was long overdue for an update, so until Gordo returns his attention to it, this excerpt from Ean Wood's biography on Josephine Baker will have to suffice:

Josephine Baker, Vienna 1928- Josephine takes a working sabbatical away from Paris to reinvent herslf on a tour of Austria.

I fixed the Barbara McNair spotlight (from her MI episode) from earlier in this thread (as part of my broader fixing of threads I had Photobucket images in).

Much Matrix Obliged, Phelpsie & HooRaq Department:

As we do mean to conclude this royal retrospective with a coupla final entries shortly as your

friendly neighborhood (if generally reviled razz razz razz) neo moves into his brilliantly-belated final phase
of professionally-personal, um, “Revolutions” wink

Our inaugural screen introduction came upon her charming perf in

Along the way, she’s had

Plus venturing out into her own series:

Still, we have a general suspicion amounting to an outright certaintyher drop-alive looks, charisma and no small amount of talent will ensure her rising star

for many cinematic moons to come …

No problems with the ladies, but the concept of a thread entirely for women of one colour just seems a bit distasteful in 2017.

If'n you ever have anything affirmative to offer re the HUMANITY of those honored here, please let us know.

And we gather you were also so colorfully-aware to barrage Hollyweird for its decades-long artistic apartheid (forget the handful of those who have been included within its Lethal Liberal-ity) of spotlighting the majority of VANILLA artists of every conceivable stripe other than those whose overt pigmentation is a perpetual subtle-as-an-A-bomb problem to avoid.

Have you picketed the studios for their thoroughly despicable non- roll eyes DISTASTEFUL roll eyes foundational fact there has NEVER been anyone of color at the head of its corporate collective?

[ Yeah. That's wot we thot. ]

Dude - (especially considering we have a general suspicion amounting to a specific certainty within your probably profoundly insular existence, we dearly doubt there's a handful of individuals included here you've ever seen, let alone HEARD of. So much for being open to learn something) - here's a flash fer ya:

Don't.

EVEN.

Start.
