Like if a Morricone and a Barry score had a baby and it came out like this. I have never heard of this score before, but it sounds like a real hidden treasure to me.

Time to resurrect some love for this score. Utterly unique, utterly amazing -- and, incidentally, utterly still available! There is a peculiar, engrossing quality to this music. I should really dig out the liner notes, but recommendations on other, similarly compelling Loussier works would be very welcome.
If you are receptive to watching French-language films from the early 1960s, then there is another Jacques Loussier score to admire: LIFE UPSIDE DOWN (LA VIE A L'ENVERS), the very first film of Alain Jessua, made in 1964.
I love this film so much, I've acquired the region 2 French DVD. It does not have any English subtitles, but that's OK by me since I own a subtitled print on VHS (connoisseur video) from the 1990s.
This film's about a real estate salesman who gradually withdraws into himself and his thoughts to the eventual neglect of all social responsibities...
...Loussier's music is at times jazzy, but always chamber-like, concluding with solo piano at film's end.
There's no soundtrack, except for a French EP on Decca; the only other soundtrack by Loussier that I'm aware of is London's 1969 LP "You Only Love Once".

Because it was released in early 2008 and is no longer a "new" release.
Wow, really? That completely slipped below my radar......still a great release though!
