A couple of years ago, Elfman scored a puppet show that kinda slipped by most of our radars (although NOT mine, of course! wink).

There is one single, two-minute clip of it on youtube, complete with an excerpt of Elfman's score:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpkRCUn38E0&feature=related

I think it sounds absolutely fantastic, obviously reminiscent of THE ELEPHANT MAN, but also hints of Elfman's earlier music for The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo (such as his gamelan concerto) or his "Helpless" song from the BOINGO album.

Please record this, Danny!!

I seemed pretty sure in my first post, but now I'm not so sure anymore. Can anyone confirm or deny that this is Elfman's music we're hearing in that clip?

The website of the marionette maker, Erik Sanko (www.eriksanko.com), lists Elfman as the composer.

That same clip appears on http://www.here.org/who/artists/fortune_teller/ where Sanko is a "resident artist," and it lists Elfman as the composer as well.

I got to attend this and his name was all over the program for doing the music. Elfman was also in attendance the night I went so he did the music for this for sure. Though I have no sound on my work computer so can't confirm this clip per se, but it's most likely Elfman.

Cool! I guess that's the closest I will come to a confirmation.

Wow, great track. Those are some beautifully designed puppets. Thanks for the link Thor. One of the most inspiring things I've seen in awhile.

Sounds like the emo tween sister of DARKMAN's "Carnival from Hell"!

I hate to spread anything and it has been a year and a half since I saw this, but I am kind of feeling like that was not the music for Fortune Teller. It's cool, very circusy. But I have a vague recollection that Elfman's was a bit more filled out and darker as opposed to playful. I could be wrong on this, but this isn't sounding overly familiar to me.

According to this:

http://www.buzzine.com/2008/03/fortune-teller-by-erik-sanko-2/

Elfman wrote the score and Erik Sanko wrote three songs

To clear up a misunderstanding here:

I'm WELL AWARE that Elfman wrote the music for this show.

What I'm wondering about is if Elfman wrote the music we're hearing IN THE YOUTUBE CLIP ABOVE; in other words, if this is the actual music from the show. I thought that if there were someone here who had been to the show, they could confirm or deny.

I know that you know Thor, just to let people know about that article. As far as I know this is the one which clears up the cooperation between Elfman and Erik Sanko.

Just discovered the full show has been up on Youtube for a number of years, replete with Elfman's music:

Cool, thanks! That had completely slipped me by. Haven't investigated this in years. We still need a recording, though!
