Finally, a legit release of my absolute favorite David Newman score... I can't wait for my old unmentionable to become a coaster!

Seriously, at 1500 units... I'd recommend anyone thinking about this release to pounce now. It's one of the best scores of the 90's.

Hell to the yeah!

Having also obtained a You Know What (in fact, it's the first one I ever got), this new release was a terrific surprise.

Definitely one of Newman's finest (and the film ain't bad, either).

The samples (and I admit "our most requested Dave Newman score") had me put it in the cart before the next CD was even up.

Yeah, a great thing too is that this release looks to be a bit longer than the b*** that has floated around. The sound quality was a bit crummy on the unofficial version as well... it will be great to have a clean, legit copy.

Many of the key David Newman / Danny DeVito collaborations have now been released. They've consistently been D Newman's better scores, so I guess that's only fitting.

This was the only CD club item I ordered this time. I like the North and South score but don't think I'd ever get through 3 hours of it!
I'm pleased for henry though.
I'll sample the Bernstein before buying and I've never really been bitten by the North bug.
But Matilda is a great score to a very enjoyable kids film and the main theme is a whopper.

This is just fantastic!
I had a copy of the score previously (the leg of a boot) but the packaging, notes, sound quality and extra music make this the CD to own. That theme is impossible not to like. It so conjures Matilda and her world of magic and innocence. And Multiplication never, ever sounded that good at school! May intrada and Varese keep mining David Newman's back catalogue.

I thought I'd go for the hat-trick on this thread.
The film has just been shown on Channel 5 and I'd forgotten how great it is!
An absolute children's classic. Dark, nasty, funny, optimistic and sweet. It's great entertainment and the score by D Newman is just fantastic. The broad stuff amps the action and comedy well enough, but those warm, tinkly moments are heartbreakingly beautiful. It's why I love David Newman's music so much.
I don't know if this one has sold out yet, but it's a must-have CD if Newman does it for you.

Sold out in April, unfortunately. It is definitely a must-have, whether or not one is a Newman fan.

The movie and score are both great. Newman captures the feeling of nostalgia absolutely perfectly, love that 'library' theme.
