My wife and I saw Leatherheads last night. Although there were things about it that made me smile, it was a little dull and bloated for a screwball comedy homage. Randy Newman's score was great, however, if you like his sort of music (which I do). The CD has pretty much all of the major cues, plus a few that didn't make the final mix. One notable omission, however, is the big, brassy arrangement of Dodge's theme that is heard over the opening credits. Although there are themes and individual cues that I love, I have a little trouble giving the CD a full recommendation due to that fact that several tracks suffer from what I call "short cue syndrome," which is to say tracks that are clearly stitched together from 4 or 5 30-second cues. There's some wonderful 20s style jazz in there, but the stop/start nature of some of the tracks can get a little frustrating.

I watched the film recently and enjoyed it. I'll pick up the soundtrack when I can find it cheap. It was a lot of fun.
