Mashed up with my peanut butter and jelly, they aren't bad.

Wow! I would really miss bananas. I love 'em plain, banana bread, banana cream pie, banana daiquiris, dirty bananas (a drink), banana shakes, banana pudding, peanut butter and banana sandwiches, banana splits, bananas on cereal, etc., etc., etc....

Spina bifida sufferers such as myself have to be aware of certain food allergies, and banana is near the top of the list. There's a compound in certain foods (banana, avocado and tomato are the main offenders, but there are a few others) that, if ingested, could send the person into anaphylactic shock. The interesting thing, and American Nightmare referred to it earlier, is that cooking these foods removes the offending compound, and makes the food safe for me to eat. In the case of banana I'm particularly grateful for this technicality, because my mother makes the most wonderful banana cake!
