I have yet to find a thread about this incredible soundtrack anywhere on this site. It's a French cartoon released in 1973 (but geared towards adults), and the music is amazing. It's trippy and funky at the same time...definitely something worth checking out. You can buy the movie for twenty bucks (at least, I think you still can), but if you want to own just the music you'll have to cough up well over a hundred bucks for the CD. The only copies I have found are right at one hundred dollars for a used one.

Here's a link to the beginning of the movie.

The score has been discussed in at least a couple of threads before, but I don't think it's ever had its own dedicated thread. I know I spent a long time looking for a copy of the CD, and when I finally snagged one I was lucky enough to get it for far less than the going rate. It's a great listen, but I'm not so sure I'd have paid $100 to hear it.

I love this soundtrack. A couple of years ago you could find the CD easily as an import even on amazon.com but since then it seems to be OOP, even then I think I paid about 40.00ish.

THe movie is a bit out there for most, but many were introduced to it as the film Jennifer Lopez was watching in the film THE CELL.

I still have my old Anchor Bay DVD of the film.

It is a funky 70's type soundtrack, I don't listen to it a lot but I do like it definatly part of my collection. As soon as I saw the DVD years back I immediatly wanted the score. It is sort of like music AIR might have recorded if they were around back in the day.

Here's one of the threads where the score came up:

http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=47840&forumID=1&archive=0

It's also been mentioned more than a few times in the mammoth "Now Playing" thread. Quite a few interesting and unusual scores pop up in that thread from time to time…

Dusty Groove America (www.dustygroove.com) lists this title for $13.99 but it is currently out of stock. It is a Czech release, so I don't know what this means about availability in near future. Dusty Groove is usually good about restocking, though.

Love this one myself as well: La Planète Sauvage (Fantastic Planet)

http://www.moviegrooves.com/shop/planetesauvage.htm

Alain Goraguer wrote arrangments for Serge Gainsbourg and on his first album: Du chant à la une !...

Would love to see a complete version of: L'Eau a la Bouche soundtrack (Serge Gainsbourg,Alain Goraguer)

I picked this up in the 1990s when a lot of groovy Euro soundtracks were getting released. It is one of my all-time favorites. Stylistically it reminds me a lot of Gainsbourg from the same period. It has an oddly contemporary feel about it while also reflecting the period.

The UK Blu-ray features the soundtrack as a bonus feature:

This is not an electronic score.

I thought it was. Sounds like one.

It's largely a matter of opinion. The music does use electronics, so in many people's minds that is enough to qualify it as an electronic score.

But in my opinion it's sorta more like early Floyd with a wah-wah pedal. big grin
I love the score. I love the movie.

If anyone cares, here are the CD tracks in film order:
01. Generique (#3 on CD)
