Robbery - £12.99 - Inspired by true events (the great train robbery of 1963) Robbery is an uncompromising portrayal of swinging London’s criminal underworld. Directed by Peter Yates, the film stars Stanley Baker, Frank Finlay, Barry Foster and William Marlowe.
I recently picked up the Vocalion release of Johnny Keating's score for the 1967 Peter Yates movie 'Robbery' and what a great listen this is. I had a cdr of this but the mastering on this release gives excellent sound.quality The score is tense, big band jazzy and occasionally sad.
Lalo Schifrin did a great job on the 'Shifting Gears' cue in Yates' 'Bullit' the following year but Keating runs Lalo close with his 'Diamond Robbery' cue in 'Robbery'.
I remember seeing the film for the first time in November 1967 and loving it and the score. A shame that Keating didn't score more movies.
