My favorite Old School slaps are

George Sanders popping Ann Baxter deservedly silly in ALL ABOUT EVE

Kirk Douglas stunning Jane Greer into covering her slapped cheek in OUT OF THE PAST

Danielle Darrieaux popping James Mason a good one in 5 FINGERS for "impertinence".

-Kevin Bacon belting Elisabeth Shue in HOLLOW MAN (not that she deserved it, but it was still a good slap).

-Sean Young's continuous blows to Armand Assante in FATAL INSTINCT. ("Sister! Wife! Sister! Wife!...")

-Priscilla Presley's mysterious third hand in THE NAKED GUN 2 1/2.

-Neve Campbell giving Courtney Cox her just desserts in SCREAM 2.

The "Triple Slap" when the 3 Stooges stood in front of ONE person they'd caused trouble for.

Art Malik's double-slap of Tia Carrere in TRUE LIES. To this day I still wince at them, especially the second one.

When Joan Crawford as MILDRED PIERCE rips up that check for 10K that her daughter Veda ( Ann Blyth) extorted out of her ex's rich family and she slaps her own mother.

"Get out, Veda. Get out of this house before I kill you!"

Ooooh, another Great James Bond face slap-

Connery tied up in the cabin of the NING PO, with Karen Dor in her slighty little negligee.

" I've got you now."

"Well, enjoy yourself..."

SLAP!

How about the 'she's my daughter... my sister...' face slapping scene in Chinatown?

My favorite scene from one of my favorite films (My Name is Nobody, 1973) featuring one of my favorite actors (Terence Hill), giving a whole new meaning to the term "slapstick" comedy.

The entire scene is magic, and ultimately sets up the hilarious slap-a-thon climax, but if you're really impatient, skip ahead to 7:50. Either way, I promise you won't be disappointed, but I strongly urge you to watch it all the way through.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh9gfIoRmoc

P.S. This film also sports one of my favorite scores by one of my favorite composers, Ennio Morricone. wink

My Good God in Heaven! HOW could I possibly forget that, and how funny it was?

Yeah, it's a great score.

This is bending the rules a bit, but I always crack up when Carole Davis smacks around Christopher Maher in MANNEQUIN.

"Panties?"

Paul Newman wallops Ann Blyth a couple of times in "The Helen Morgan Story." The thing that makes me howl about this is that, given the force behind it, she should go sailing out the window. Instead, she barely moves, like she's made out of steel or something.

Joan Crawford (is she the Queen of the Movie Slap, or what?) practically belts Lucy Marlowe's teeth out in "Queen Bee." She has to reach quite a way to slap her, and still connects. The unnerving thing about this one, is that it looks like she didn't pull the punch and actually smacked the crap out of the poor girl.

I can't remember the name of the actress, but Crawford also pimp slaps a character silly in "A Woman's Face."

June Allyson hits Joan Collins so hard in "The Opposite Sex" that Joan's earring flies off.

What's strange about a movie slap is how often they can result in laughter. Not sure why that is, especially since striking another person is one of the most "unfunny" things you can do.

-Sean Young's continuous blows to Armand Assante in FATAL INSTINCT. ("Sister! Wife! Sister! Wife!...")

Which is an echo of CHINATOWN, isn't it?

Didn't Jennifer Jones break a bone slapping Charlton Heston (of course!) in RUBY GENTRY?

It's not a slap, but Jessica Lange tossing a drink in Dustin Hoffman's face in TOOTSIE has the same effect.

I definitely second the vote for Christine McIntyre's attack on Shemp ("Cousin Basil") in BRIDELESS GROOM.

Also Dan Duryea in almost ANYTHING!

Does every example mentioned above involve women (giving and/or receiving)?

For a macho slap, there's Count Gormaz whipping his mailed glove at Michael Hordern in EL CID -- undoubtedly the most stereophonic slap in film history, with the whooshing sound sweeping across the screen and leading to a dramatic cut and Rozsa's musical punctuation.
