I'm listening to this LP (digital-converted) and it's a lot of fun. It's as period-locked as a time capsule, but very groovy baby. I guess it's lucky Bernstein didn't get typecast for doing such a good job on such a particular kind of sound. It has little hints in common with THE GHOST AND MR CHICKEN. That's unexpected.

Think this will be released on cd in our lifetime? Isn't it strange that it hasn't appeared on CD thus far? Even when a lot of those old RCA Victor soundtrack albums were being issued in Spain, this one never made it. It's fun stuff and I always felt that the stereo recording of this was one of the best sounds committed to LP. As an aside, on Vikki Carr's web-site she paid tribute to Elmer Bernstein when he died; I thought it was a nice touch. - James.

Almost six years on, and still no CD release. This one must be in the pipeline, surely?

Due for release on the Dutton-Vocalion label quite soon I hear, paired with a score by Neal Hefti (Boeing-Boeing).

Ah, I see I was (slightly) mis-informed - Neal Hefti's BOEING BOEING is a separate release (CDLK 4578) and is paired with OH DAD, POOR DAD... Mamma's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feelin' So Sad. JMM.

Now listed (for pre-order) but regretfully: it appears to be only the 13 track score album ... no extras. For Dutton Vocalion this is rather surprising given the full-price ticket. Well, that's a disappointment. I already have an LP transfer and that will do for now. Gee whiz, guys, it's only £9.99!

Have been in possession of this CD for a few weeks now, and it sounds just great. This is, in fact, the first legitimate release of this album in the U.K. in stereo. The old RCA Victor LP was only ever available over here in mono, with the RD prefix. (RD 7792)
