SPOILER START!

What a weird film!

It starts off with an interesting premise, but as soon as they're all put in quarantine, things escalate into totally overblown melodrama much too quickly, with almost comic book villains and scenarios to boot. It's also difficult to buy into the notion that the infected blind ones are simply thrown in isolation without any kind of health personel (protected, of course) around.

There's something very, very odd with the plot here. Not only are there lots of irrelevant plot points (such as that whole thing about them having to bury the dead bodies out in front), things aren't really set up properly. Perhaps this works better in the book, where you have the chance to investigate their minds and their motivations, but there are so many random acts and elements whose purpose in the narrative seems completely befuddling.

Things pick up a bit in the third act, though, when they're rummaging around the post-apocalyptic streets.

Overall, an uneven film.

SPOILER END!

I've never heard of the composer, but the music was interesting. It's a very spiritual, Eastern sound - especially for the more dream-like sequences (the white blindness etc.) - you know, very Ravi Shankar-like. I kept suspecting that it was Mychael Danna who had done the music, since it reminded me of his whole approach.

Yeah, I just tried to watch it on Cable. I got about 20 minutes into it and had to turn it off. It's more than "weird". It's Bad.

I should be more specific. Even though the film requires some suspension of disbelief, I found the plot to be too much over the top once they got to the Concentration Camps. I also found the Film to be visually ugly. I understand the over-saturated Cinematography was to mimick the blindness but it grated on me.

I agree with you on the over-the-top thing, but there are parts of the film that looks kinda nice. The last "outdoors" act, in particular, and parts of the realistic lightning throughout. However, the bits in the quarantine were a bit too dark for good measure.
