I just received this and it is wonderful. It the score to a BBC series of specials about the oceans. The opening Main Theme is vast and expansive, one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have heard in a long time. The second cut, Sardine Run, sounds like something from an adventure film, a very propulsive allegro. If you like Fenton, I think you will love this. If you never liked Fenton before, you will after you hear this.
Picked this up for $1 at a thrift store today. What a steal. Great score! Fenton's work is hit-and-miss with me, but this one is blowing me away. Highly recommended.
Then you should check "Deep Blue", his score to the feature film adapted from the BBC TV series. Fenton brings his ideas a step further, with a richer and fuller orchestra (the Berliner Philarmoniker).
I discovered this score first, then the "Blue Planet" TV series score, and while the latter is indeed very good, I rarely give it a spin because of the smaller orchestra.
