and man, what a fun western score. Did Steiner record anything more than this 6 minute track on this compilation? That CD is all that popped up in an amazon search of the title....
It is a marvelous score! I've wondered why it never has seen an ost. It was a Warner Bros. picture.

THAT is a terrific score! But the film is a stagebound version of a play about Franklin Roosevelt (Ralph Bellamy) at his home at Campobello. It definitely is not a western but the score has a heavy slant of Americana. Oops, Joan beat me to it.

I tend to associate that Americana sound with westerns, my mistake!
Just caught ".......Campobello on TCM and was impressed with Franz Waxman's gorgeous score. This is a Warner picture and am curious why the complete score has never been released on CD?
SUNRISE AT CAMPOBELLO is a great score. One that I have wanted for many years. It is Warner Brothers from 1960. If music elements from RIO BRAVO and THE MIRACLE survived in the WB vaults then why not SUNRISE AT CAMPOBELLO. The question is : Are there enough real music lovers like us to make such a release financially practical ? I hope so. C'mon Intrada or Lalaland !

I'm up for it but isn't it a really short score?
I haven't seen it for a while but the movie is a play and most of music seemed to be when they moved away from Campobello, the summer home of President Franklyn Roosevelt where it all takes place.
Sunrise at Campobello is an excellent score, as are all of Waxman's scores, but it is quite short becuase it is a dialogue driven movie. Waxman's long and powerful score for The Nun's Story (1959 Warner Bros) would be sensational in a rerecording or complete remastering.
I'll second that! 'Campobello is a very fine, and ultimately uplifting film. Despite its length I don't know if there's more than thirty minutes of music, but what there is very good. I especially like the extended sequence where the paralyzed FDR is able to avoid the crowd of reporters when he leaves Campobello to take the train to New York.
The score is short, but the film, in the theater, had a pre film Overture. this short score could be combined with mgms 1959 Waxman score for Count Your Blessings, another short score.

The laser included the Intermission tag, but no Overture, Ent'racte or exit music.
