I got the 50th Ann. of Sleeping Beauty and the sound is just out of this world. I heard this recording is from the masters that were found overseas somewhere. The sound is the best older recording I have heard ever. It's so clear, if I didn't know better I would have guessed it was recorded a few years ago. There is NO hiss or anything like that. Good job to whoever did this, WOW. I'm just blown away. There may be other threads that talk about this, but I don't care I wanted my own. I know there are a few people on this board who make it a point to make sure people know there were other threads about a certain subject.

There are indeed some miracles out there !!

I was really impressed by the sound quality of the music in Criterion's VAMPYR !!
Again, almost as if the music was recorded yesterday.

Truly amazing.

Wow, sounds interesting. I love it when older recordings (meaning 60's and earlier) sound crisp and clear and contemporary, like the Deutsche Grammophon/Karajan recordings from the 50's.

The original LP version of Sleeping Beauty is available for digital download. I absolutely love the cover! But is there any reason to get this? I have the expanded remastered edition.

Well, in a way. That album has different vocal performances and edits of cues. However, the main reason to get the album is the fact that it has music not on the expanded album such as the pieces labeled Blue Bird, Woodland Symphony, and especially Fairies to the Rescue (a great arrangement of the Fairies' theme that underscores the scene in which the fairies rush to the cottage to warn the prince).

Very cool. Thxs for the response. Looks like there is also an album version of Bambi as well. If I remember correctly the chorus at the end is missing on the expanded CD version.

Is this limited to iTunes? I am hoping for a CD release.
