Earlier this year I was scouring the clearance soundtrack bins at RASPUTIN and found Elmer Bernstein's SATURN 3 for $1.50

Evidently marked that low because the booklet had suffered some water damage and was a little warped looking. Not even that bad.

The CD itself was in great condition.

I just got back from Newbury comics with..

Poledouris' Conan the Barbarian (the Milan Disc, New) for 14 Bucks.

Arnold's Stargate (Milan Disc, Used) for 4 Bucks.

William's Star Wars, Attack of the Clones (Sony, Target with an extra track, Used) for 3 Bucks.

I also found in my Mailbox a new edition of Fanfare (Sep./Oct) Magazine. Sandwiched between Goetz and Grenadier was Artur Litgen's review of Goldsmith's Twilight Zone: The Movie.

Also, sandwiched between Holliger and Hummel was, again by Arthur Lintgen, Horner's Something Wicked this way Comes.

Both reviews were favorable but Arthur critized Horner's ("After a brilliant start of his career") later efforts as "repetative and derivitive New Age pablum". An opinion that I agree with completely.

I welcome Fanfare's inclusion of film score reviews within the pages featuring other Reviews of Symphonies, Concertos Operas and Sonatas. I do miss Royal S. Brown's feature (Film Score Musings) but I feel that Herrmann, Goldsmith, McCreary and others Film Score Composers should be included in the same section as the works of Bach, Beethoven and Brahms.

Today at a local used shop I found a mother load, mainly for the pricing! Not sure if someone died or was really broke. IT was kind of sad when I see a lot of releases liked this that were more than likely all from the same person. I bet the store gave close to nothing for the sale either.

Glass Slipper FSM 2 Disc 4.95
Monsignor Intrada 4.95
Grand Prix FSM 4.95
4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse 7.95
Player, The VSD 4.95
QB VII Intrada MAF 7061D 4.95
Accidental Tourist, The Original WB release 4.95
Prisoner of Zenda FSM 4.95
1941 VSD 4.95
Bravados, The FSM 4.95
Above and Beyond FSM 4.95
Demetrius and the Gladiators FSM 4.95
Prodigal, The FSM 4.95

I don't think I will ever better finding Bill Conti's BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT CD (cancelled Varese) some years ago for £5 at a film fair.
But, I gave Brad Fiedel's SERPENT & THE RAINBOW away for nothing!!! (to a friend) many years ago, so everything evens out in the end.

I wish my city had something like Half Price Books or Hastings, but alas, it doesn't. Guess I'll just keep buying off the internet.

Proof that one's man's treasure is another man's trash. frown

Glad you got some goodies for a great price, but I too wonder who sold these for so cheap, considering he/she could have made a lot more selling them on-line. You'd think anyone who would even know most FSM titles exist would also know where to sel them to maximize profits.

I guess my spectacular finds are:

The Phanton of the Opera - John Addison (Colossal Records). I paid US$ 10 at a used store here in Brazil. The score is absolutely fine, lush strings, very nice themes... if you find it, buy it.

Poltergeist - US$ 10 at the same store

Conan the Barbarian (Varese release) - US$ 12
The Serpent and the Rainbow - US$ 20 (I still can´t believe it).

And also a very surprising cd that is Pet Cematary (Goldenthal) - the score is awesome and I paid 8 dollars.

I won the vinyl lp of 2 Maurice Jarre scores on ebay: Mandingo & Topaz.

I couldn't resist, I've never seen either film and I've always wondered if they were really as bad as they used to say they were.

MANDINGO is one of the vilest, most offensive films ever made. IMHO, of course.

Just picked up MANCINI IN SURROUND from eBay for the staggering sum of 99 cents.

With shipping, the grand total was $3.99.

A fantastic bargain, if I do say so myself.

That's what I heard but I never went to see it.
