This was posted by Tim Truman on the Miami Vice site :

Hello Friends ~ Things Seem to be moving forward on a MV5 soundtrack after all this time!! I am extremely grateful that so many of you have contacted me about this. It was all of your letters that has convinced them that there are thousands of music lovers that want to have this. Leave me your list of tracks you would like to hear in this collection.
Any interest in me writing NEW tracks in the Vibe of Vice?

Thank You ALL
TT

Is this gonna be on LLL ?

Excellent news! I love the Truman stuff that has been "leaked out" in various forms, including his own myspace page. It's a definite purchase for me if it happens.

Yes, terrific news. Let's hope for a high quality release from La La Land or other labels, with extensive liner notes about Truman's work on MV. I have my own 40 minute CD with several of TT's MV selections, brilliant stuff indeed. New tracks in the MV style would of course be nice, but not INSTEAD of the 1988/89 tracks. How about a double CD? ;-)

Although MIAMI VICE was actually the last American TV series I really followed, I have no clue how many seasons were shown here [update:] in Germany.

So - I assume that Tim Truman worked with the main themes Jan Hammer had established in the previous season?

P.S.: Oh, and for you two - I have thought for a while that you two might actually like the Patrik Pacard TV series score (from a German 1984 christmas children TV mini series that largely played in Norway) that I have mentioned in other threads a couple of time:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zond-YXXG9k or
http://www.amazon.de/Generation-Fernseh-Kult-Patrik-Pacard-Fernseh-Kult/dp/B00068C7S4
Full-throttle, cheesy, unashamed 1980s! Guilty pleasure. cool

I guess US TV showed all 5 seasons??

Hammer's main theme was featured in the 5th season as well, but all the rest of the music was Truman only, and he did not base his music on Hammer's themes, but it certainly was in the Hammer mood. At times it sounded even better than Hammer, IMO.

Yes, for the final season, Tim Truman did the entire score, but he did not use any of Jan Hammer's themes like Crockett's theme, etc.

Tim's score was a more hard rock type, and he utilised many times, the great guitar solo's!
But he also used a great selection of synth sounds, more ambient and less bright than Jan Hammer's selections. I guess his score sort of fitted the ending of the 80s and the dawn of the 90s, and most amazingly, it sounds just as fresh as it did back then.

You wouldn't think that his score was done in 1989, it was just done superbly.

In particular the music for the final episode was truly awe inspiring, and memorable, and really was an emotional piece. I will never forget that moment, when Crockett & Tubbs shake hands over the Ferrari before leaving for the final time while Tim's amazing score plays in the background. Truly one of the best scenes ever in TV show history.

Its sad that we no longer get these types of scenes, where the music elevates the scene to new levels.
I hope one day Miami Vice comes back for a few one off episodes to show what happened to the characters. That show was far superior to anything we have today.

Let's not forget that great song they played during the montage, from Electra Glide In Blue.

Damn, I miss that show...

I agree, I'm rewatching season 1 -- it's bloody amazing. I like the use of the songs, for example, in "Calderone's return part 2", Russ Ballard - "In The Night" playing over Tubbs racing to Crockett's home gives me the goosebumps every time I see it.

Any news on Truman's music? I wonder if La-La are involved?

Hey, you know that bumping this almost gave me a heart-attack? I actually thought it WAS coming.

No, not much news regarding this the last few years. It's my number 1 wanted score!

Why on earth doesn't Universal want this? What do they have to lose?
