Well, he isn't of course, but this is for the chap who asked if there was going to be a score CD release. As I went to the trouble of doing some digging, I might as well mention it here even though the thread seems to have gone the way of my youth.

I understand that there is intended to be a score release, but it'll coincide with the DVD release.

In the meantime, there's a snippet on Rolfe's website - a beautiful waltz that underpins a character's wistfulness. I hope some more will appear in due course - as I'm not willingly going to sit through any Zac Efron vehicles as long as I'm in control of my faculties, it's probably the only way I'll ever get to hear the music from one of my current favourite composers.

Hey Tall Guy, I know I'm a little late, but I just watched (endured?) this film tonight.
It's as bad as you imagine, but Kent's score is typically lovely.
It's almost quite a trademark score for him.
Dreamy, wistful John Barry-esque theme = check
Percussion/Drum motif = check
Brief Arabic inspired piece = check
Full orchestral approach, no bullshit = check
The film...remember all those scenes between Marty McFly and his Mum fancying him, which could have been wrong, but worked perfectly.
Now, imagine it all done wrong (and creepy-like). Zac gets called a weird, creepy man-child at one point, and that sure sums up the film, and his performance. It also made me appreciate how good Michael J Fox was.
But hey, there's a nice score...and Silva are gonna release it...so it ain't all bad smile

Hey, Kev - I almost missed this resurrection of a thread I thought had just died on the vine. Thanks for your observations. I won't be seeing this film unless I'm strapped down with my eyes held open with wire, Clockwork Orange-like, but cheers for the description of the score. What I'd hoped, for, basically.

First off, there have been far worse films than this in '09 (*coughYEARONEcough*). Second, I'm pleased that Silva is releasing this. Can't wait for it.

I pre-ordered this and Kate and Leopold and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. I'm listening to 17 Again, good score, BAD movie. Rolfe is one hell of a great composer I'd say!!

Terrible movie indeed. Matthew Perry as an older Zac Effron? What? That didn't even make any sense. I'll never forgive one of my friends for making me sit through it. BUT, I did discover a very nice score, so at least that came out of it.

I agree Perry and Efron, first off, they don't even remotely look a like and they were supposed to be an older/younger version of each other? I mean Perry's head is a rectangle and Zac's is more round, yah it was pretty bad, the movie was for sure.
