I've never had much interest in Ben Casey, but as a longtime Jerry Lewis fan, this episode sounds incredible! Must investigate...

Jerry Lewis rarely gets props for his dramatic acting (anyone remember his stint on Wiseguy?). I remember the Wiseguy episodes because my dad watched that show every week. He told me about the Lewis episodes coming up so I watched them when they originally aired. Impressive work to be sure.

This is very, very interesting. Several years ago, I mentioned to someone: long, long ago, I saw a television show where Jerry Lewis played a doctor. Again, last week, I mentioned this to someone. That Lewis, when serious in the few films he did (and when Hollywood allowed him to play serious), he was great!!! I also mentioned King of Comedy, where Lewis played the straight guy and DeNiro played the comic. Anyway, as I recall, in the Lewis as doctor show I viewed, Lewis has a break down in a stairway. Is this the Ben Casey episode?

Zoob: This is far too much to even have thought would happen. Very glad this topic has come up. For years, this tv segment has stayed with me. A kid at the time, viewing regular Saturday afternoon matinee's, seeing B movies and Jerry Lewis the comic; imagine my shock at seeing Lewis on this tv show (now thanks to you I have the info) playing a serious role. I was knocked out, especially seeing Lewis go through the stairwell trauma. Jesus, just cannot let this go. For year, I've carried this memory, now you've come along an given conformation to something I can now put to rest. THANKS!!!!!!

Don't you love it when the "old timers" reveal their star power, charisma, and just plain acting chops when seemingly out of their element? Lewis got flak for trying to inject pathos into some scenes of his own movies and they didn't always work, but given the right environment, he delivered.

Do you by any chance zooba know of other Ben Casey episodes that were scored by Williams?
