I liked Grusin's theme to THE NAME OF THE GAME (given a very nice jazzy cover version several years ago by the John Gregory Orchestra). But I loved his theme for IT TAKES A THIEF, with a different arrangement every season.

Well, the great Edwin Astley did 'The Baron' which was a great title theme. 'Johnny Staccato' was Elmer of course, though it sounds to me like he was strongly under the influence of Waxman's 'Crime in the Streets'. I think Ron Grainer did 'Man in a Suitcase'. I know very little about Dave Brubeck's TV or film music, but I'd like to learn. The 'Precinct 87' is amazing. Who was that, anybody? The thing that jumps out at you is the amazing imaginative title sequences, even if some of the series may have been pretty run-of-the-mill. I think Steve Forrest was the younger brother of Dana Andrews? I rmember my parents being into the Amos Burke shows, but I never noticed the music.

The 'Precinct 87' is amazing. Who was that, anybody? That (87th PRECINCT) would be Morty ("Hawaii Five-O") Stevens, so vastly underrepresented on CD (hint hint).
