Unfortunately, Varese may hold the rights to these in perpetuity. Maybe the scores they didn't release, can be gotten.

It's worth noting that between the last few Indiana Jones videogames, the "clean" material on the Young Indy DVD releases (end credits sequences, music files for the interactive historical games), and a few other sources aside from the VS CDs, there's actually quite a bit of additional material available, though one has to do more work for it than one would if one could just buy some more nice CDs. Needless to say, that doesn't diminish my ongoing desire for full CD releases of all Indy music one bit, but it's a bit better than nothing, and I thought I'd mention it... Unfortunately, Varese may hold the rights to these in perpetuity. Maybe the scores they didn't release, can be gotten. Perhaps, though I'd think Lucasfilm probably has enough control over them that they could get them out if they wanted to, even via another label. Note one of my earlier posts from a year ago, where I referenced a discussion at The Raven. According to that thread, La La Land in fact expressed interest at one time but was too busy, while Intrada actually tried to do it about four years ago, but Lucasfilm wanted to combine rights for the TV show with those for the movies (which of course went to Concord), which suggests to me that Lucasfilm might like to eventually rerelease / release more of the show's music as part of some huge set that also included the film scores, and also that Concord might be the current rightsholder, though if so they obviously haven't done anything with it yet. Indiana Jones V... IMHO they need to give it a rest. I love the first 3 movies, but Crystal Skull was horrible. Well, you're not alone, at least; plenty of people certainly agree with you, though it's far from unanimous (the movie got decent reviews on the whole - check RottenTomatoes if you don't believe me - and great box office, and having seen the movie theatrically with an audience again less than three weeks ago, I can personally verify that it still draws an overall positive audience response). At any rate I don't think the issues with the fourth movie would necessarily apply to a fifth, as it had a difficult gestation under circumstances unique to it among the four extant films, and a fifth movie wouldn't necessarily undergo the same development path; most importantly it could well be written by someone other than David Koepp (all four of the movies had different scriptwriters, and there's no reason to think a fifth movie would necessarily be scripted by the guy who did the fourth). IMO, the real problems with a potential fifth movie are George's difficulty in selecting a "MacGuffin" and Harrison's advancing age (not a problem for me personally, but likely an issue for at least some audience members, and consequently for whether the filmmakers decide it's worth pursuing). Personally, I'd love another; I'd just hope that it'd have a different screenwriter and a different cinematographer than the fourth (though I also have to admit I'll go if it's made, no matter what). If nothing else (and to get back on topic), it'd probably somewhat increase the chances of more music being released from Young Indy and/or the previous four movies (of course, it'd also give us another movie with its own initial soundtrack release that would undoubtedly leave off stuff of its own, giving us even more missing Indy music to be frustrated over... )

Ooops, somehow I missed this thread. I've been one of the contributors to the forum threads over on "The Raven" from which enthusiastic poster Joe E has been relaying details. I'm obviously also a big fan of the YIJC scores, and contributed to an episode of the "IndyCast" podcast featuring the music from YIJC along with Laird. I've attempted to consolidate the information we've learned about the scores at this site: http://YoungIndianaJonesMusic.com Nothing official, of course! Details are gleaned from whatever sources are available - including threads here on FSM! We've also attempted to produce cue lists for the episodes, placing music from the OSTs as well as tracks from promo CDs (Rosenthal, Sobel), and the tracks revealed by the DVD games/resources and used in recent Indy games. Feedback and additional info is very welcome. I hope to put samples of the tracks up on the site eventually.

I mentioned earlier that I thought the best hope for getting more music from this show (and from the movies as well) might be if a fifth movie were to be made and prompted the release of a comprehensive new boxed set featuring scores from both the films and the TV series. Disney's recent acquisition of Lucasfilm has probably made that less likely. According to various statements in the coverage of the acquisition, Disney didn't assign a value to the Indy franchise (!) because of the "encumbrances with Paramount" - while the franchise is owned by Lucasfilm (and therefore now Disney), Paramount still holds the exclusive distribution rights for Indy movies, so the two studios would have to work something out. I personally think that shouldn't be a deal-stopper in and of itself (they're actually been doing much the same thing for a while already with the Marvel movies ever since Disney bought Marvel), but as one more hassle to be worked through on top of the lack of a script, clearing everyone's schedule, etc., I think it's enough to help keep any prospective fifth movie on the back burner long enough that Harrison would no longer return to the role; I now fear that the next time a new Indy movie comes out, it'll be a reboot (I suspect Disney would rather reboot Indy anyway than just add to the extant continuity). If this happened, I fear it might either diminish interest in the original iteration (at least beyond the features, which would of course mean the TV show), or cause the studio to perceive a diminished interest even if it actually isn't. But I truly hope I'm wrong. I still dearly want all the music from this show (as well as the four movies we now have).

Yearly bump. The Disney/Lucasfilm behemoth seems to be steadily but slowly lumbering towards Indy V. Whether it's Ford's last hurrah, a passing of the torch, or a "reboot" (i.e. recast prequel, but Hollywood loves that term even if it's not a continuity break as is meant in the comics), the Magic 8-Ball says "Signs Point To Yes" and that's likely our best hope for the soundtracks to get some interest if the rights for the film scores and the television scores are bundled. There's been very little traffic on TheRaven forums in the past year, and I haven't had to make many updates to YoungIndianaJonesMusic.com - the well of unreleased tracks is pretty dry. Still, if anyone (Joe E?) wants to help out with the site to add detail, let me know. We still haven't finished "Complete Score Breakdowns" for every episode.

Wasn't this series Disney related or Touchstone or something Disney'ish, so wouldn't that be Intrada territory. I would easily buy a box set of all this music. There is SO much great music in this series. Easily a $150 dollar box set!!
