I regard her performance in Dressed to Kill as her finest work, and one of the greatest performances by any actress in any film. Truly a remarkable piece of character acting, communicating so much without a word.

What a classy dame... and what beauty.

You can't fake that glint in her eyes. You can't package it and you can't sell it.

I love her in POINT BLANK... She has some funny recollections on the special edition DVD that came out a few years ago.

How about RIO BRAVO? As tough as the Duke is in this movie, he practically melts away in his scenes with her. Too much woman for the room! And nearly too much woman for the lens to contain...

I had an early crush on her in my childhood from POLICE WOMAN. Yeah, most of the scripts are dopey and the show is not aging well but, man, she owns every scene she's in.

My favorite "funny" performance of hers is in THE NORLISS TAPES, where she really seems to be out of her depth with all the spooky goings on around her.

It's really remarkable how much she wrung out of such a small, dialogue-free role. Far from "exploiting" her (as some critics sniffed), Brian De Palma gave her a wonderful role that she played beautifully. When she makes her spectacular exit from the film early on, the moment only works because she managed to create such a lived-in, emphatic character despite her limited screen time.

"Okay, I'll let you work on your Peter."

Angie Dickinson inspired this poster/LP art for the 1962 film JESSICA:

and I don't mind taking a closer look:

Wonderful post! She is truly Da One and Onliest ANGIE! As a young girl, her performance in Dressed to Kill was beyond remarkable...it left a permanent (and paranoid) stamp of always looking over my shoulder. Of course, she was fabulous in so many other films, but I will never forget Angie in Dressed to Kill.

Thank you, Neo, for creating a tribute for Da One and Onliest ANGIE...

I love the fact that Angie D. only got better looking as she reached middle age...the Angie of Police Woman is sooooo much hotter than the beauty she was in Rio Bravo.

She, along with Joan Collins, improved with age and both "peaked", at least in my eyes, during the first half of the 1970s.

BIG BAD MAMA!

Did anybody see her play a psycho in the ABC mini-series Wild Palms (1993) ? She was incredibly nasty in it and in one scene gouged out Nick Mancuso's eyes (and beat the hell out of her own daughter). Truly one of the defining screen psycho beotches. Unforgettable.

I only know her from Rio Bravo, which is my favorite western (and, possibly, movie), and I have always loved her in it-- what a splendid woman! Great character, too, the lady with the flower pot.

She held her own with Duke in that one. She's a perfect example of Hawk's predilection for women who can handle themselves around men, one of the guys rather than a little feminine mouse.

I can't say I've seen every film - or even the majority of films - she's appeared in but I usually enjoy her presence - a truly beautiful lady and an excellent actress (who often underplays her role - e.g. Ocean's Eleven - original version).

An early viewing experience was seeing her with Burt Reynolds in Sam Whiskey ... good fun and, as a young teenager, she got my attention with her, albeit brief, topless scenes.

I really liked her with Robert Mitchum in Young Billy Young and One Shoe Makes It Murder, and, of course, with John Wayne in the aforementioned Rio Bravo.

Yes, I have lots of fond memories of seeing her in a number of roles.

I just mentioned One Shoe Makes It Murder in the Rarely-Seen Mitchum Movies thread! Two references in one day??? The apocalypse is nigh!!!

You know, this is just one actress I never liked. Her acting always seemed like it lacked that natural quality so many of the greats have. She has had fantastic taste in scripts though, so I'll give her that. But I never found her all that beautiful.

Different tastes and all that.
