Cool cover. And for me personally it will be one of the highlights of this summer.

Ah, I was holding out hope for Back to the Future as the vaunted 100th release, but this is cool, too. Even though the finale really soured me on the series overall, the genius and beauty of McCreary's music can't be denied.

This has been on my 'to-get' list for four months, along with the features scores and 'Caprica'.
It's about the only thing on my list, barring any more 'Twilight Zone's or 'Something Wicked...'s.

Thank the Lords of Kobol. The cover looked like "unfinished business" to me. As for the music, can't wait...

this is a great cd. you don't have to be on the fence about this one. been listening to it nonstop since saturday and there's barely a track i skip. as tv music goes, no one really comes close to this. it's too bad the emmys always fail to realize that.

This is a must have indeed. Will order it tomorrow from la-la.
Strange when I think about how lukewarm I was to the season 1 cd back in 05. It was a impulse buy. Almost regreted it. But it certainly grew on me. Now its about the best televison soundtrack (including Lost) been released and Im coming back for more.

I picked mine up from Comic-Con - It is beautiful. Far more layered than the Season 3 CD, and Daybreak is fantastic.

Highly recommended.

Fan-frakkin-tastic! This is Bear's finest album yet. From the first track until the end of "Daybreak", you will be held prisoner by this music. "Gaeta's Lament" is a heart-wrenching, emotional track featuring wonderful vocals by the man himself, Alessandro Juliani. Its one of dozens of highlights from Season 4, and its just the first track! Pick this up, asap.

Some thoughts on the new double album...

*I will mention track titles, however I don't think any of them are spoilers*

There is some superb material. The second disc - the score of the finale episode - surveys most of the themes of the series with a more extensive orchestral presence than usual. 'The Line', 'An Easterly View', 'So Much Life', 'Goodbye Sam' and 'Into the Sun' are the peaks for me. The 15 minute action cue actually is interesting, but kind of feels less interesting in comparison to 'Prelude to War', 'Mandala in the Clouds' and 'Storming New Caprica' from previous seasons.

The first disc is the real winner for me however, with some wonderful tracks like 'The Hub', 'Elegy', 'Among the Ruins', 'Roslin and Adama Reunited', and in particular all versions of 'Gaeta's Lament' (heard in 'Blood on the Scales' as well as both of the tracks titled 'Gaeta's Lament'). The latter joins 'Violence and Variations' and 'Storming New Caprica' as one of my favourite cues of the series. It's probably the weight of things like 'Gaeta's Lament' and 'The Hub' that shifts me in favour of the first album. Like the episodes that lament accompanied ('Guess what's coming to dinner', and 'The Oath' arc), there is more meat for drama here than the very-well produced finale 'Daybreak' ultimately offered. 'Among the Ruins' and 'Funeral Pyre' from the superb mid-season re-opener 'Sometimes a Great Notion' explore darker territory than any of the BSG music before. 'Roslin Escapes' joins the great action cues of the series.

'Kara Remembers' is a strong track, but feels a little happy to hold on a groove -- it probably could have been worked over a little more for album. (Though the reworking of it for album has already added a few nice touches.) 'The Signal' is 90% great, but is almost ruined by having what sounds like a choir of 6 trying to sound bigger than they are. (The small choir works much better for the early cue devoted to Baltar's cult.) 'Diaspora Oratorio' is also pretty strong, and I suspect it will grow on me.

Congrats to you!

Now get cracking on releasing SUNSHINE. wink

Ditto, on both counts wink

Glad to see it selling so well. Really looking forward to getting this. Not having seen season 4 yet I am resisting all temptations to listen to any of the soundtrack until I can sit down and listen to the whole thing right through.

Congratulations on the 100 releases - of which I now have quite a few. Looking forward to getting many more from your next 100 (one of which will hopefully be Sunshine wink).
