The somewhat lackluster score to Eastwood`s/Spielberg`s collaborations highlights however the brilliance of the movies themselves... that they still entertain as well as they do is a tribute to be sure.

They`d have been moreso with more engaging accompaniment, but...

I really felt the editors should have taken a knife to about 20 minutes of IWO JIMA actually. The combination of the same tune being reprised every ten minutes and the 'INT. Cave - Night' setting of much of the film managed to bore me after a while, which I found astonishing.

When I saw Tora! Tora! Tora! during its original road show presentation in Philadelphia at The Randolph Theater, in 70MM and 6-Track Stereophonic Sound, I found it flawless. Watching it many years later on laserdisc, I hadn't changed my mind one iota.
