Lets wish him well. I always appreciate his film-score suite albums. 'Masters and Commanders' and 'Miklos Rozsa: Three Choral Suites from the Epic Films' and 'Vintage Hollywood' are just three great recent releases. He does much to popularise and cross age and genre boundaries in music of this kind.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I just read it and nearly started crying. This breaks my heart it really does. I just sent his agent a nice note so I can send Mr. Kunzel a card in the mail. Erich was SO nice and signed a few covers for me a few months back, some of my all time favorite covers. I didn't know it at the time, but a fan sending him some covers out of the blue during all his treatments and such, I hope, mean a lot to him and brightened his spirits a bit. His recordings, for so many years, was all we had from films like Space Camp, Cocoon, Last Starfighter, Boy Who Could Fly and so many others, as the originals were far too hard/expensive to find. I love his recordings. From looking at his picture, he does not look good, very sick. I wonder what kind he has, what his prognosses it and such. I do hope he is finishing treatment and the outlook is good. My heart goes out so much to him and his family. EDIT I just read he was diagnosed April 29th and it's liver, colon, pancreatic. Pancreatic was what my father passed from which spread to his live and lungs. We were told that if it is caught in time theres a decent chance, but once you start having symptoms, it usually is too late. Man I hope he had no symptoms and they caught it SUPER early. Oh this news just breaks my heart today.

I, too, had not heard, and am terribly saddened. I have so many albums conducted by Mr. Kunzel, in MANY genres, including "straight" classical. Driving, is there a cyber address to which shut-ins like me can send an e-mail of best wishes?

Thanks, Greg! I'd say I envy you the experience, but I can't carry a tune in a bucket, so there's no point in even imagining being conducted by the maestro. But I am happy for you!

A good man for film music, Mr Kunzel. I am extremely sorry to hear about his illness.

A great big reason I started to enjoy film music is because of Kunzel's recordings. I still get excited when his new albums come out.

Man I'm still bummed, seeing that pic reminds me of a few years ago with Dad and just makes me so sad. I remember seeing a new recording, like Neil, and getting exciting. I loved his rerecordings more than Silva. I went to Indianapolis tonight and listened to his CDs the whole way!!

I have two of his Telarc CDs: HOLLYWOOD'S GREATEST HITS VOLUME II and SYMPHONIC STAR TREK. Top quality performances, very good stuff as everyone knows. I hope he recovers.

Just saw him in concert last week; for what it's worth, he seemed in good health and spirits. Hope there's light at the end of the tunnel. Dan

Okay guys I got an email from his agent and cards or what not can be sent here... Erich Kunzel Cincinnati Pops Orchestra 1241 Elm St. Cincinnati, OH 45202 I'm going to send a card with a VERY nice note tomorrow, seriously guys, if you can, send him one. I can only imagine him getting so many great positive cards would help him spiritually and make him feel good when he's feeling not so good. These things you've all written are great, I hope you can put them in with your card, if you do send one. Let him know all this stuff about being on a budget and these were the best. That these recordings were always TOP notch. Or that some of his re-recordings were MUCH better than the originals. I think this would brighten his days a lot. I'm thinking about printing this page out and sending it along. I'm sure he has a large fan base, but in the film music community, everyone knows him and has lots of his CD's. Looking on my wall I have 11 signed by him. OH MY GOSH, I just checked when I sent Erich my CD's to be signed, it was VERY VERY shortly after he was diagnosed, it was before the world knew. May 3rd. Man I hope after getting that news and then getting such a huge thank you note along with my covers, it brighten his day. I'm sure he needed it then especially. He was so kind to sign them all, To Peter Best Wishes Erich Kunzel. Man I'm lucky to have those signed along with about 20 others. I'm not bragging about the autographs, just it's funny about life, I really do hope it brightened his day way back in early May. I wish I could do more, but I think passing this address along to you guys will help, if I and a few others send a nice card, it should help as much as it can!
