By the way, this brings to mind a question I'll bet you can answer. On the season 1 dvds, the opening title sequence that accompanied all episodes is only on disc 1 as a disc intro and does not play with each individual episode (and on subsequent season sets, it's not present at all, though I'm only up to season 3 so far). What's up with that? I assume it has something to do with legality, but it's really annoying.
If not all, please release the maintitle theme to Cutting Cards looping for an hour... This is the most fun theme I´ve heard...
There is so much great music in this show... Cutting Cards - Horner And Althrough the house - Silvestri Threes a Crowd - Jan Hammer Werewolf Concerto - Rick Marotta Dig that Cat...
If this is to be released I will testament my house to LaLaLand when I die my oh my...Intradas Amazing Stories is no match for TALES FROM THE CRYPT...
Hope this is going to be like Intradas Amazing Stories CD's. Complete Episode scores.
The only difference is that Tales From The Crypt has alot better scores than Amazing Stories....
The best episodes "score-wise" is,
MAN WHO WAS DEATH - by Ry Cooder
AND ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE - by Alan Silvestri
CUTTING CARDS - by James Horner (Favourite No. 2)
THREE'S A CROWD - by Jan Hammer (My Favourite No. 1)
THE THING FROM THE GRAVE - by David Newman
KORMAN'S KALAMITY - by David Kitay
SHOWDOWN - by Michael Kamen
WEREWOLF CONCERTO - by Rick Marotta (Favourite No. 3)
Here's a taste
Funnything is tha I just started collecting the old EC Comics "Tales from the Crypt, Vault of Horror" from the 50's. And I need some suitable scores when I'm plowing through them those dark and stormy nights.
Actually, I'm completely unfamiliar with Tales of the Crypt as a whole, but I was surfing through the episode list on IMDb, and if I could recommend ONE episode score, it would be "Four-Sided Triangle" (1990) by Scott Johnson. Never even heard of this guy before, and it seems to be his ONLY composition credit according to IMDb (apart from a 1988 film called "Patty Hearst").
did elfman do any episodes? from what limited bit i know i don't think he ever did. not sure if the main titles had variations over the seasons or not. but if there's anything more elfman related that can be squeezed out of his small contribution it would make me much more interested in a release for sure.
I have to say that Silvestri is the only one whose music has impressed me on the show. There was also a pretty nice score from Merl Saunders (I believe).

I honestly do not know. Perhaps it has to do with a performance royalty, or it could be the dvd producer and his/her own taste.
