FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HALLOWEEN II – ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK - FEATURING MUSIC COMPOSED & PERFORMED BY JOHN CARPENTER IN ASSOCIATION WITH ALAN HOWARTH TO BE RELEASED ON AHI RECORDS More Of The Night HE Came Home… http://buysoundtrax.stores.yahoo.net/haii30anedex.html (September 10th, 2009, Los Angeles, CA) AHI Records, to be distributed by BUYSOUNDTRAX Records, will be releasing a special 30th Anniversary Edition of HALLOWEEN II. The soundtrack features music composed & performed by John Carpenter (HALLOWEEN, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK) in association with Alan Howarth (THE LOST EMPIRE, HEADLESS) for the 1981 cult horror sequel directed by Rick Rosenthal, written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasance, Lance Guest, Nancy Stephens, Pamela Shoop, Tawny Moyer, Leo Rossi and legendary stuntman Dick Warlock as The Shape. HALLOWEEN II is a direct sequel to the first film, set on the same night of October 31, 1978 in the fictional Midwest town of Haddonfield, as the seemingly indestructible Michael Myers follows his intended victim Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) to a nearby hospital. Produced on a shoestring budget and released in 1978, the original HALLOWEEN earned over 47 million dollars at the box office, making it one of the most successful independent films for many years. With this tremendous success, it would only be a matter of time until there was a sequel. While the first film was produced independently of any major studios, the sequel was produced by Universal, with full creative control in the hands of John Carpenter and Debra Hill. The film's score is a variation of John Carpenter’s compositions for the first HALLOWEEN, particularly the main theme's familiar piano melody played in a 5/4 time rhythm. This time, the score was performed on synthesizer organs rather than on piano. For this special 30th Anniversary Edition of HALLOWEEN II, the original 1981 album presentation is included, newly remastered. In addition, a special suite of seven tracks has been prepared, consisting of the entire film score sequenced in chronological order and including previously unreleased music. In addition, Alan Howarth has contributed exclusive notes for the booklet. Alan Howarth, in addition to being a composer, is an accomplished sound designer and editor, having worked on films such as STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, POLTERGEIST, TOTAL RECALL, ARMY OF DARKNESS, BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA, STARGATE and many others. He has been a frequent music collaborator with John Carpenter on his films beginning with ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK in 1980 and including HALLOWEEN II & III, CHRISTINE, BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, THEY LIVE and PRINCE OF DARKNESS and Alan has scored many films on his own, including THE LOST EMPIRE, RETRIBUTION, HALLOWEEN 4 & 5, THE DENTIST, HEADLESS, BOO! And, most recently, EVILUTION and BASEMENT JACK This is a limited edition release of 1000 units. The first 50 copies will be autographed by composer Alan Howarth. Yesssss!!! Thank you Alan and BSX! Wonderful :-))))))))) Looking forward to this!!! Though there's actually just a few minutes of various drones (including a great, long stinger/drone for the Dr. Mixter and nurse murder sequence) that were unreleased until now, I can't wait to hear the suites in chronological order! That now leaves only three titles for me to hope for... A score only "Dark Star" (though IF these masters would still exist, Varése/Citadel wouldn't have released the tinny sounding dialogue-filled LP/CD in the first place, I'm afraid). Then a complete "The Fog" as heard on the Laserdisc isolated score (that would be a wet dream come true - LaLa, please, can you hear??? ;-). To round it out, a suite of Carpenter/Howarth's themes for "The Thing" would be bliss (yes, i know, very short and basically only drones). Nevertheless, I'm extremely grateful. It's some blessed years for Carpenter fans :-) Best, Burnie P.S. Did anyone else notice the catalogue number inconsistency? "Halloween III" was AHICD 001, "They Live" was 002, "Prince Of Darkness" was 003 and now "Halloween II" is AHICD 005... What happened to 004? Was that somewhat candidly attributed to LaLa's "Big Trouble in Little China"? Or is there something else in the works already???

Excellent news for anybody who hasn't got this score and wants it. However, I'm happy to make do with the previous release and so I'll pass.

Excellent news for anybody who hasn't got this score and wants it. However, I'm happy to make do with the previous release and so I'll pass. Same here. Actually, I could do with just the original Varese CD of HALLOWEEN 1, let alone HALLOWEEN 2 (which I believe was one of the first half-dozen CDs I ever bought). A little of that goes a long way.... But great, for people who like it.

Big Trouble is the best release this year so far on cd, and it is a valid question if it was included as nr.4 as Howarth co-composed it... But it is great that it wasnt , becuse that means another Howarth might be on its way soon too...Maybe Retribution?? Anyway, thanx BSX for this release

Hello MV, Sorry for the confusing post. I am well aware you're not affiliated with AHI/BSX or whatever. What I meant was that maybe Alan Howarth *internally* regarded the Big Trouble Release as his fourt outing of sorts. Marz is right - as much as I love the AHI releases, nothing - and i mean n*o*t*h*i*n*g beats your "Big Trouble" release. It's complete, chronological, makes much more sense musically than the original release, sounds totally awesome and perfectly balanced, the booklet is filled with interesting information and track for track breakdowns and the whole release is beautifully crafted. This is one of the most beautiful soundtrack releases of the past few years for me. That's why I am constantly hoping that it will one day be you guys handling a finally complete release for "The Fog"... Oh yes, Marz, "Retribution" complete (or "Lost Empire" complete, for that matter) would be a dream come true as well... Again, sorry for the confusion, MV! All the best, Burnie
