I know this score has been discusse before but I just have recovered from having been blown away by this super acquisition.
If they replaced the balloon with this music, they'd reach the moon.
I bought the CD after hearing the small samples on the gamble that I would also like the rest and I have not been disappointed.
I put this CD in the category "I heard, I gambled, I won...... big time".
If you don't have it yet, get it.
Get it to hear for yourself a wonderful score filled with great beauty.
Get it to show the composer how good his music is.
Get it to show the record company your appreciation of what a wonderful job they did releasing it.

Oh bloody hell... JUST GO AND BUY IT!

One way to describe stupidity is knowing this CD is available and not buying it.

It's a very nice, and welcome score.

What chance is there of us getting a CD release of Maurice Le Roux's beautiful score from "Le Ballon Rouge" ("The Red Balloon") ????

I concur with Disco Stu. It's a delightful score - quite epic but also lyrical and wistful in parts.

I haven't seen the film, but the score reminds me of a French reimagining of Victor Young's 'Around the World in 80 Days', with a touch less whimsy.

I managed to get this at Cine Musique in Paris yesterday and what delightful, charming music it is. I saw the film when it was first released and the music has stayed in my mind ever since. There is something about this type of French styled music which casts a nostalgic appeal for me; along with the score for PLAYTIME and the end titles of IS PARIS BURNING? - all of which manage to summon up memories of Paris from years past.

I just purchased a copy a few days ago, and should have it in hand by the end of the week. I'd been meaning to pick it up for awhile, but with all the amazing must-have limited edition releases over the past few months, it kind of fell off my radar until I saw this thread. So I went to SAE and listened to the samples again, to refresh my memory, and not only does the music sound uplifiting, fanciful, and jubilant, as I'd remembered, it also has a very "Christmassy" sound at times, so I figured there's no better time than the present to snatch it up. I'm really looking forward to it, and hope that someday I'll have a chance to see the film as well.

I just picked up a stereo copy of the LP for a dollar. Cleaned it on the Nitty Gritty and am listening now. Nice range of stuff. One of the last tracks on side one sounds like Robert Cobert's music for Dark Shadows.

I've enjoyed the Kritzerland release of this the few times I listened to it.
