I think it is one of his better scores. In some places it is a little top "pop" for me, but I love the choral cues and the bold finale, and think it contains some of his most inspired work. I think he had a particularly strong affection for this film. His heart seems to really be in this music.
It was quite interesting to listen to his "workshop" at Soundtracon in early July, where he showed us finale from the film without and with his music and talked about scoring the film. Based on the time he spent with this one, he's obviously quite happy with the film's ending.
Somewhat ironic that I purchased this about a month before this thread was started. I had actually added it to my unknown gems thread. So glad this specific was created - thanks Kevin.
"My Noble Knight" is one of my favorite Trevor Jones' compositions. The rest of the score is OK, but that piece alone is gorgeous and worth the soundtrack purchase. The concert version is good as well.
If you like this score, especially the gorgeous My Noble Knight cue, there are moments in his Thirteen Days score which come close to that style, together with some cracking militiary/action tracks.
