Some very sad news to report: Our friend and mentor Vic Mizzy passed away yesterday. As many of you know, Vic was the flagship composer of the Percepto label since 2001 and he couldn't have been more supportive and enthusiastic during the production of our seven CD's (eight if you include his "Songs for the Jogging Crowd" CD). To say he will be missed would be a towering understatement.

I will be posting a tribute to Vic on our Percepto website and at vicmizzy.com in the next few days.

Aw, man, that's terrible news. Very sorry to hear that. His music is so cool and groovy, and full of memorable themes. He really had a style all his own. RIP, maestro!

I am so sorry to hear this. I admired his abilities and fine musical craftmanship very much.

A talent I took too lightly in youth, only to appreciate and understand as an adult. God rest your soul, Vic Mizzy.

I'm sorry to hear this. I must admit to not being familiar with a lot of Vic Mizzy's work, but I, along with millions of other people, am of course familiar with the theme music he wrote for "The Addams Family", which is a work of genius. The fact that it's a piece of music that has entered the public conscience assures that the legacy of Mr. Mizzy will never be forgotten by anyone. I offer my condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Sorry to hear this. I think I saw something about him and James Bond music on the A VIEW TO A KILL dvd. It was a documentary, and he performed some James Bond music.

This guy was a master of melody...and you could always tell a Vic Mizzy score in the first thirty seconds. What a wonderful legacy he leaves behind for all to enjoy. Bon Voyage.

I'm listening to his material now- it's all very good. So much of his sound is so positive and sweet.

Crap. I mean, I knew he wasn't going to live forever, but still, this is a kick in the teeth.

His comedy scores (mainly SPIRIT IS WILLING and the Don Knotts movies) are terrific and THE NIGHT WALKER was a fantastic drama/thriller score.

To any and all who read this, I implore you to get, a) if you can and b) if you don't have it already, SUITES AND THEMES. A truly impressive selection of his film and TV work. I wrote a review for another site long ago, but it doesn't begin to do justice to that fantastic CD.

Not only was he a fine composer, but (judging from the liner notes of his CDs) he was quite the wit. He shall be missed.

I interviewed the man twice and both times he was a delight. A quick wit, and a joy to interview. He said he knew I was calling from Canada because he could feel the cold air through the phone. He told me about his war service and during WWII how close he was to going on the front lines when he was pulled out because they needed organists for the navy. He went on to say that he set back religion about 2000 years. The pastor's thought he was having a jazz session. His stories still make me laugh. Rest In Peace Vic.
