Some questions for LOST IN SPACE aficionados:

(a) THE ORIGINAL SERIES

If I get the LLL release, does it include everything the 3 GNP/Crescendo discs had? I can find track listings for the 3 but cannot find times and they don't necessarily match the tracks on the LLL release.

(b) THE DREADED (BUT FUN!) 1998 MOVIE

Just ordered the Intrada CD but is there any score on the TVT release that didn't make its way onto the Intrada? Some of the cue titles are different and times are very different.

It's one of those series I just never got into. I was always a big TREK fan as a kid but now I find the need to watch the show. Just ordered the first season on DVD.

You need the GNP set to have all the music--in particular the second and third season episodes like "Lighthouse in Space" and "The Great Vegetable Rebellion" aren't on the La-La Land disc while the La-La Land CDs have scores like "Blast-Off Into Space" and the space hippies episode that aren't on the GNP set. In short, you need them both to have the most comprehensive collection of LIS music.

As for the movie, there are editing differences and the original soundtrack release has what I think is Broughton's original take on "Through the Planet" before he jazzed it up for the final film edit--I think it's played as the end title on the soundtrack album. The Intrada version is by far the fullest presentation of the music and is in better sound--you're safe to go with that by itself I would think.

The Intrada still does lack music....it is expanded but not complete.

Thanks, Jeff! Just bought the 3 sealed GNPs from ebay, LLL is on its way. (Does the Irwin Allen bonus disc have any music not on the other CDs, or is the LOST IN SPACE portion of it just interviews and sound effects?)

There's no additional music on the bonus disc; it is all interviews and sound effects, and in fact the one supposed bit of extra music--the "long version" of the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea end title was evidently mislabeled and it's exactly the same shortened version heard on the Voyage disc.

Well, technically, Alexander Courage's rejected theme from LAND OF THE GIANTS would count, I guess... since it's not on the GIANTS disc with his rejected score.

That is sort of stretching the term, "additional music", though. Also including "Space-a-Delic" from Season 3 of LIS, but fortunately, that got included on the La La Land release.

Did you find them for a good price? I only have Volume One, which I found awhile ago for like $20. I always see Volumes 2 and 3 going for much higher. I need to finish what I started!

For people interested mainly in the Williams music, you only need Volume 1 and 3.

Check out this thread if you want to sequence the music (esp. first & last post):

Volume 2 was $22.99 sealed. Volume 3 was sealed and much higher priced at $47.99. Here's a current ebay list, which includes those same titles from Starbase Atlanta, so they've got multiple copies of 1 and 2. The listing they have for 3 is a different ebay number and doesn't note multiple copies. (I decided that while 3 was higher priced, the other two weren't bad so amortizing them makes it all worhtwhile. smile)

Anyone have a track listing for the bonus disc? Couldn't find one online.

Yes, and it is great to have that on disc!

I need help on one music piece that is not on the LA LA Land version, and may not be on the GNP version, that being the music that accompanies Guy Williams' flight on his jet pack. I love that music; does anyone know if it is on the GNP versions?

That music is on neither release. The LIS jet pack music is from Bernard Herrmann's score for The 12 Mile Reef.

There's a bunch of cues on BENEATH THE 12 MILE REEF that appear in early LIS episodes, as well as cues from GARDEN OF EVIL, JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, and of course DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL. The scene when the Chariot emerges from the stormy ocean in THE HUNGRY SEA is a classic triumphant 12 MILE REEF cue. (not home to check titles) I think the FSM disc is O.O.P. though?

Some of Richard La Salle's melodies from THE TIME TRAVELERS also show up in the series.
