After the triumphal release of FSMs STAR TREK II cd, the hopes are still rising, that there will be new releases of the Star Trek scores in the future.

In this forum several rumors about some releases going around (ST: III and a TNG-Box by FSM, an box with the original series scores of ST by LALA (as theyve done with theire Outer Limits box, ect).

Obvisly, IF something will released of ST, it will not happend until next year!
Lucas said, that it has taken a long proces to release ST II and that it will take long, until he brings out another ST cd (IF he did at all)!

But it seems to be a good chance, that 2010 will be a great year for all fans of the STAR TREK scores!

It would be great, if some labels could CONFIRM here in that forum, that more ST scores are planned for 2010, so that the hopes of the fans can still can rise!

Best whishes.

I would get my hopes up but I've been hurt before. The big anniversaries when we might have seen more TOS music released were like the comedy bit where Lucy pulls the football away from Charlie Brown.

The only one I really feel like I need more of is #5.

A runner up would be #3. I'm good with all the other releases, as is.

That's 'which scores' not 'witch', unless you're talking about a horror film, not Star Trek, you mean the word 'expect' not 'aspect' and best wishes as in Aladdin's lamp. Sorry to be pedantic but maybe you should go back to school - unless English isn't your native language, then I'll let you off.

But the Trek scores I'd love complete releases of more than any others are Search For Spock and Final Frontier. I think Trek scores from Generations on are quite poor by comparison. IMO.

Of all 11 scores so far there are some I'd like and some I really couldnt see any further point with..

STTMP Whilst there's been a lot of this, it would be nice to have Courages bits alongwith JG's

ST2 Thankyou Lucas it certainly looks like you enjoyed producing that one, btw got 5 star review in Legend 55. It's really nice to have a great album extended and with a superb booklet. Can't rate it high enough.

ST3 Other than the Grissom flypast. the battle with the BOP, there isn't a lot more here however it would be nice.

ST4 NIce theme, average action music and precious little else.

ST5 Loads to have a go at, from the Shuttle takeoff, the attack on the planet of peace camp, the talk with sybok in the emergy room, the proper version of the end credits.

ST6 Good score, and only the incidental bits with the Enterprise and Klingon cruiser really come to mind as missing.

ST7 Average theme Great action music, nothing really grabs me here.

ST8 Jerry G back on form, one track is obvious Flight of the Phoenix, its inclusion in a new release is def required.

ST9 Nice theme not so sure I would like any more of it?? Have quite enough on the std CD. And yes I know its Goldsmith.

ST10 Not much more but Data's sacrifice is one that sticks in the mind. Short track but sadish.

ST11 Although the album I like, it would be nice to have a chronological version, and that track where they enter the wreckage of the starships in there.

There you go,off the top of the head from someone that really likes Trek. Tda.

As I've said before, I'll be there for any Star Trek release by any label. I'm particularly hoping for III, VII and more TOS music, but the rumors about a TNG box are...fascinating.

I think we should expect nothing, and instead merely hope for the best. Every film music label is fully aware of the longstanding wish list for Trek score releases, so really it's just a matter of being patient and letting the producers do what they do.

I would not buy a TNG box set. Compared to the music in the original series, TNG music is mostly boooring IMO.

While probably highly unlikely to happen, I think it would be great for all fans if there could be a box set of music for each series. I would very much enjoy having a set of TNG and Enterprise music in my collection. smile

Sadly, most of TNG is wall-papered. (Ron Jones complained about this and tried to deliver something else, hence his removal from the series)

DS9 started to go in another musical direction towards the end and Enterprise is much closer to the TOS music than any other spinoff.

If you want television music that compares to STAR TREK: TOS, watch THE FLASH. Tons of themes, energetic, romantic, playful - Shirley Walker just nailed it.

Been meaning to get that on DVD, but the initial run had serious defects in the discs, so I've been gun shy.

I take it you're somewhat familiar with TNG/DS9/VOY/ENT music, Mr Esterhaus?

Going by the name he's using that would appear to be the case. Shouldn't we cut our new (Scandanavian?) friend a little slack?

Somewhat - the one big gap in my knowledge is ENTERPRISE, which I didn't follow at all. By that point I had given up.

In general, I'm of the same opinion you are - TNG is wallpaper, and the other shows had some good moments. But I don't think any of them came close to what Shirley Walker did for THE FLASH, or (as we've discussed) SPACE: ABOVE AND BEYOND.

For a TNG box set...if it were for the TNG movies (Generations through Nemesis) then I'd be all over that. For the TV scores...there were some episodes I'd love to have scores for but I doubt those would come out.

STTMP Whilst there's been a lot of this, it would be nice to have Courages bits alongwith JG's

There is a certain version of the score...and it would be nice to have a legit version of the complete score though.

ST3 Other than the Grissom flypast. the battle with the BOP, there isn't a lot more here however it would be nice.

There's still a good many more pieces from Star Trek III that I would love to hear. "Genesis Sundown", "Self Destruct Sequence", "Enterprise' Final Glory", and a few other bits would be nice to finally hear outside of the film.

ST4 NIce theme, average action music and precious little else.

People slam on this one too much.....it's a pretty nice score for what it is, it fits the film rather nicely. There is still some good unreleased bits I'd love to have.

ST5 Loads to have a go at, from the Shuttle takeoff, the attack on the planet of peace camp, the talk with sybok in the emergy room, the proper version of the end credits.

Star Trek V is definitely one that needs to be released in complete form.

ST6 Good score, and only the incidental bits with the Enterprise and Klingon cruiser really come to mind as missing.

There's even quite a bit of this missing too...there's also a certain version of this score, if you know where to look. Hopefully one day we get a legit release of it.

ST7 Average theme Great action music, nothing really grabs me here.

Nothing at all? A shame.. ."Distress Call" (from the beginning) is one piece I'd love to hear. "78 years later", "Destruction Of Amergosa", "Evacuation" (when they evacuate everyone to the saucer section) is another piece that stands out that would be great to hear as well. I'd love to hear the full unedited piece of "Out Of Control / The Crash" too. Generations is another score that gets slammed too much. I think a complete version would really help that score a lot.

ST8 Jerry G back on form, one track is obvious Flight of the Phoenix, its inclusion in a new release is def required.

I think we were lucky to get some of Joel's music on the GNP release...but a complete version of the score in legit form would definitely be welcomed.

ST9 Nice theme not so sure I would like any more of it?? Have quite enough on the std CD. And yes I know its Goldsmith.

I'd love to hear the film version for "Inside The Collector / The Healing Process" outside of the film. I know that was a last minute change and thus wasn't able to make it on the GNP release...but there are still some pretty good moments that were left out.

ST10 Not much more but Data's sacrifice is one that sticks in the mind. Short track but sadish.

Oh man oh man...where to start with this one. Well let's just say that the certain version of the score leaves off practically all the best bits from Varèse's release. It's definitely a great score when listening to it that way. That too I really want a legit version....but we may not see it from any other label except Varèse, unless they were able to let one of the other labels release it in complete form.

ST11 Although the album I like, it would be nice to have a chronological version, and that track where they enter the wreckage of the starships in there.

Honestly this is one Star Trek score I'm perfectly fine with for the album. I mean if a complete version gets released that would be cool and I'd buy it....but as I said for now I'm happy with the album.

Somewhat - the one big gap in my knowledge is ENTERPRISE, which I didn't follow at all. By that point I had given up.

I didn't care much for Enterprise until I discovered it on DVD. Go back and watch the show for three very, very important reasons.

1.) Enterprise is TOS meets The Right Stuff.

2.) Scott Bakula's Jon Archer is really a slant on George W Bush.

3.) The show flies in the face of all the garbage that BSG Redux exists as.

I'm not saying every show is an Emmy winning episode - but theres things in it that when introduced *in context* of the times (which is more than we can say for DS9 or VOY) is impressively intelligent given what television has turned into and its a hell of a lot better than Voyager.

Judging from his name and the location listed in his profile, I think it's safe to say that English isn't his native language. But his English is certainly far better than my German!
