Hi Bill, The music in question is: The Grifters (The City) by Elmer Bernstein You can find that track alone on disc 2 of the Varese Sarabande 25th Anniversary Celebration album (Varese Sarabande 302 066 460 2) which may be available on Ebay?
Failing that, I'd be happy to mp3 it for you and email it? Is that allowed?
you know I thought it sounded Elmer-esque - that back beat - but I figured maybe thats too easy!
of course, Grifters. Somewhere around I have a suite from that film.
Thanks Greg. Much appreciated. Nothing bugs me more than recognising a clip of music but not being able to place it.
Im sure elmer must be grinning that elmer smile when he saw they've used it for an advert. Mind you, not the first time, over the years both Great escape and Magnificent seven have been used in ads.
Music identification can be quite tough sometimes, especially when you hear something out of context, such as an advert!
Barry fans wont understand but I had that once in a musical quiz where theyd used some Barry themes - most I got but I had Out of africa as Dances with wolves and Body Heat or vice versa! I think there were three themes - I had the right films but allocated to the wrong themes! hang my head in shame.
