Horner's Zorro scores : great melodic stuff, I just love the Spanish flair with the castanets and guitar. These have to be close to, if not my favorite, Horner scores.
Rolfe Kent's Dexter theme . Had never seen the show but, the recording on Silva's 4 disc horror collection has me hooked.
Goldsmith's Fireworks : a recent thread had some surprisingly harsh words for this one, but I love it . A big theme ( I'd played it for a friend who on occasion dips into classical and she dismissed it being " too much like movie music" - so her hotness decreased a notch ) and a driving romantic sweep that captivates me.
"Hell Breaks Loose" from Prince Of Darkness : just creepy as hell - leftover from my Halloween listening
I'm actually between "hooks" and kind of floundering. I'm stupendously busy and can't seem to settle on music that will keep me engaged without distracting me. Before this slump I was on a bit of a Powell kick -- "The Final Race" from ENDURANCE, "Hollywood Blvd" from HANCOCK, bits from MR AND MRS SMITH, all of PAYCHECK -- along with "Concerto to Hell" from DRAG ME TO HELL.
End Credits Can Suck It! from The Land of the Lost, everytime my player started to play the next one, I always clicked that track again. Eventually I just put one track in the playlist, and ignore Taking Woodstock, Children of the Corn, Drag Me To Hell, etc. etc.
Oddly enough I've been trying to have a re-listen to Transformers 2 after giving it a 50-50 review in Legend, then of course its been a mixture of
1492 that disc never leaves the changer, after a hard week that one just chills me out. Moonraker 30 mins of utter Barry brilliance. Return of the King (mini form) what a disc that is Wind probably Poledouris's most chillin CD he ever did. Bladerunner disc 1 yes that Vangelis bloke again. Only spoiled by that **** song 'one more kiss dear' Yes I know its in the film, did he really have to include the thing aaaaaaghhhh. STTMP expanded, another one that never leaves the changer. Just sublime.
As for aural medication, I'm not hooked on any one thing at the moment. I'm listening to a variety of scores from different composers, but mainly stuff by the golden age guys and Goldsmith.
