"This very special album will be released in stores later in 2010 but, as a special holiday treat for those who love great film music, it will be available early through our CD Club, but only until January 3, 2010."

Nice not-really-a-club-release club release.

Well, actually, it IS an early release for club members....and apparently made possible under the club's banner.

A MAJOR addition to recorded film music, by the way. This score is phenomenal, IMO.

Agreed! And I'm sure the composer is thrilled to finally have a proper release of his music available also.

Excellent

I cant believe it- I just bought this a few months and was saying to a friend that came over to watch it how good this music was and thinking that this will never come out.

Listen to the fox hunt

I have been waiting for this tremendous Corigliano score since the film was released-Bravo!

As has already been noted, not exactly a Club release...

Which, of course, doesn't keep me from snatching it at the first opportunity.

Some day, in the not too distant future, you're all going to see me at some intersection, holding a cardboard sign, saying, "Will work for CD's..."

Stranger things have happened.

I can wait a bit on this one, but will get it based on the samples.

Same here. Revolution sounds like a fantastic score going by the sound clips, but I have to take into account other releases being made in December, such as Intrada later today (Monday) and Kritzerland on Tuesday.

"Holiday treat" eh? We're really short of those!

Think I'll wait until the cheaper regular release. Guess this must be a "crossover" with the classical market.

Damn, this is one of the best announcements since the last Williams release!! I'll HAVE to set away money for this one....somehow.

Is this the complete score BTW?

Virtually. There are a few cues (mostly under a minute if memory serves) that did not make it on, but this CD is more than 95% of the score.

I am assuming (and hope!) that Varese is releasing Corigliano's album master (which contains an extended "concert" arrangement of the Fox Hunt), and not the cues as recorded for the film.

Now if someone could just release Edge of Darkness!

He, he...no need yet. Since it's not a limited release, I'll hold on a bit long untill I have some cash to spare. smile

I'm really excited to have this.

Now I can toss my hissy cassette of the LP mock up from 1985.

Anyone recollect from the last time Varese did this, how long a wait there was until the "regular" release -- and what the difference in price was?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think it was the GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY, and the regular release came out the following January (which would have been a month or two after the VCL release).

I'm tempted by this one but for now I'll have to pass. Hopefully I can take Varese at their promise that the album will be released in stores (ie, not download-only).
