Lovers awake in the morning after a passionate night, with hair/makeup still perfect, decide to go one more time, no fear of one of the kids walking in on them, no worries about being late for work, no "Oooh, stubble!", no "Oooh, dragon breath!".

Not to mention no one has to frantically run to the bathroom for a Morning Pee before recommencing with the SexyTime.

Since we are on the lovers theme, the man and woman fall in love by the end of the first film. When the sequel begins, they're having relationship troubles and are at each others throats if not already separated. Just so they can come together again at the end of the second film.

big grin

Exactly! It worked for the first three Die Hard films, at least in a get-rid-of-Bonnie sort of way.

Die Hard is a bad example, because John McClane and Holly were still very much in love in Die Harder. It was only in the third movie that they had them break up off-screen between movies.

Yup, sex isn't a messy business in the movies, in fact you can even keep your underwear on.

Wait, people still wear underwear?

Welllll doggies....

wink

Nor, if one lover has used the bathroom first, the second lover never goes in after and says "Oh gosh! I can't breathe, why didn't you turn on the fan?!"

And, to add insult to injury, no one ever says "I just want to be held tonight."

...the body-double during action sequences and stunts is blatantly obvious?

This is but one of the reasons why I feel that people overestimate Face/Off's worth.

The double nightmare fake out. A character is in a scary situation, you're not supposed to know they're having a nightmare. The character wakes up and realizes it was just a nightmare. But suddenly the peril strikes again! And they wake up from the nightmare a second time, because the first time they were still having a nightmare.

An American Werewolf In London is one of the few times this trick was effectively used.

Someone gets socked in the jaw or hit in the face. They fall to the ground and then shake their head back and forth as if that's going to clear their head up. It really would just give you a headache (if the hit in the head didn't).

When the movie poster shows a blatant falsehood.

In 50s westerns and war films when jumping on the back of a sentry guard from a low wall and pushing them to the ground was enough to knock them out cold.

You can NEVER judge a film by its poster. That's a given!

AC/DC's "Back In Black" is becoming as common as the Wilhelm, or the dreaded teal-and-orange grading.

A montage set to music that
starts with the protagonist getting in the elevator, the door closes, the door opens, the protagonist marches confidently down the hallway.... pop song continues to play

When villains/thieves abandon their getaway van and overalls in some underpass and toss a bomb in the back. Ludicrously they are barely a few feet away when they detonate it with a remote in their hand. The shot is always of them walking towards camera with the explosion flames behind them.
No singed clothes, no blast throwing them off their feet or bits of van tearing thru them. So naff.

The tough guy goes after the captive and fights with many thugs knocking them out, but always leaves them unconscious on the floor. This allows them to eventually wake up and do more thuggy things later on.

The tough guy should at least break an arm or leg on them so that thug 1 through 7 must recuperate in the hospital for a few days. This method would also cause the boss to be more financially drained as well since he must hire more thugs later on.

In a fight scene, when the hero gets violently punched or thrown, he always lands in a pile or stack of empty cardboard boxes.
