Unfortunately I know that too well. I first saw the original Rocky in high school in the late 80’s. I’d seen 3 & 4 before that. Seeing the original though really got me pumped! My mom picked up a Rocky soundtrack on cassette (?). All the music was re-recorded and not done so very well. I cringe whenever I hear that version of Gonna Fly Now. It did the job until I finally got the actual soundtrack. I quickly realized the music wasn’t what we hear in the movie. Got the Rocky II soundtrack and it didn’t have the film version either. None of the actual film music has been released other than 4. I always wonder if the original music even exists. This is definitely one of my holy grails.
