As good as the Rosza box will be ... I am personally more interested in the next box. There was speculation a while back that it would be a collection of Ron Jones's STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION scores. If so, that would be magnificent! Ron Jones contributions to ST TNG should not be underestimated. I am going to start saving my pennies for this puppy.

I know there are those who speak to the contrary, but I simply don't see there being a huge demand for a 15-CD set of Ron Jones music -- and of those who demand it, I'm not sure how many of them will be willing or able to plunk down a couple hundred dollars for it. It just seems a very odd choice for a major box set.

Being familiar with much of the ST TV stuff, I'd say that I'd be very interested in this rumored box. I think a lot of old and new ST fans would be too, though admittedly the price is a major factor in how many come forward.

I'd definitely buy a ST:TNG box set, especially if it's Ron Jones!

I tried to get into Ron Jones on that SUPERMAN CD and failed. Any examples of his best work you can point me to?

There use to be MP3 samples on his website but it seems to be down now?

Heres the amazon listing for his TNG CD: http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Generation-Television-Soundtrack/dp/B000001P0Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1262830835&sr=1-1

Check out "Borg Engaged", "First Attack" and "Sleep Command"

Can we have some other guesses too, as to what the next box will be?

At least that would allow some of us retain a hope that it might be something other than 15CDs of Ron Jones music.

Just because the Rozsa box is 15 CDs does not mean that future boxes, like previous ones, will by anywhere near that many.

I believe Lukas said the next box was 16 discs.

Well bless his heart if it is. And bless our bank accounts. Whew!

Except it's no secret that Lukas is a big fan of the composer and the series. He has mentioned in the past of going to gigs of Jones. He produced the Superman animated disc for a reason. It doesn't surprise me one bit. I'd say there's a 70% chance I'd buy it too. The Best of Both Worlds disc from GNP is awesome.

I could envision a Korngold box, with all his Warners scores.

Or, a Golden Age MGM box, with numerous scores and fragments from the 30's and 40's, including a lot of Herbert Stothart, like THE GOOD EARTH, MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY, etc. That would probably require a box, just to include all the fragmentary scores that have no doubt been discovered.

As for John Barry, what would such a box include?

I'm not familiar with the work of Mr. Jones, though he does seem to have his adherents.

And I seem to remember Lukas stating that the next box will have 14 disks, not 16.

But what's a couple of disks here and there, one way or t'other?

I'll probably buy it, whatever it is....

Is it possible that the Silverâ„¢ box will feature not only Ron Jones' music from TNG, but also episodic scores from several different incarnations of Star Trek television, including the original series?

I remembered it being either plus or minus one from 15 - 16 was my safe guess!

Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be interesting and worthwhile!

My favourite score from Ron Jones has to be "The Skin of Evil" the episode that get's Tasha Yar killed. Superb score and the finale is just beyond description.

Okay, based on the clips and what I heard on the SUPERMAN box I don't see an incredible investment based on expansions of other composer's material. I go back to my original guess based on that title up there at the FSM gettogether. BUTTERFIELD 8 would be a nice kick-off for a Kaper box. With titles like Ada(1961), Two Loves (1961), The Angel Wore Red (1960), The Scapegoat (1959), Don't Go Near the Water (1957), The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1957), The Power and the Prize (1956), Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956)Forever, Darling (1956), The Glass Slipper (1955), Betrayed (1954) (US version), Her Twelve Men (1954), Saadia (1953), The Actress (1953), Shadow in the Sky (1952), The Red Badge of Courage (1951), Three Guys Named Mike (1951), Key to the City (1950), Malaya (1949), That Forsyte Woman (1949), The Great Sinner (1949), The Secret Garden (1949), Green Dolphin Street (1947) and Courage of Lassie to choose from Bronislau Kaper at MGM would be an incredible tribute to an incredible composer that FSM favors bigtime. I would too.
