I was always wondering if there was ever a second volume planned?

I wouldn't think it very likely given how much the liner notes talk about the complete arc of the series existing over those four discs. Unless they do something similar to the "Arkham Archive." Although, remember, too, that the last season or so existed as the New Superman/Batman Adventures...Might be a joint volume coming next??!!

The first volume only represents 20 out of the 50+ episodes of the series - so while it covers a lot of the bigger arcs, there's a lot of music out there that hasn't been heard.

As a fan of the DCAU I want it all out there, but as a business man I need to look at the sales. BTAS performed exceptionally well, but Superman barely broke even. We do have plans to release other DCAU titles this year and beyond but I don't know if another volume of the big blue boy scout is in the cards.

ORDINARY PEOPLE paired with SAVE THE TIGER

Who composed "Ordinary people"? I see at IMDB no composer listed.

EDITED: Ok, I see Marvin Hamlisch did it adapting other music. I am not familiar with the film, what kind of music is? Classical music? Thanks

He has some very beautiful choral music in it.

Thanks for the update, MV. Thanks for your continued work on DC animated projects, including the new Mystery of the Batwoman album. You have my $ for any of those releases, even if you have to do a limited edition of 1 wink

If I recall correctly, it's largely variations on Pachelbel's Canon.

(But I may not be recalling correctly.)

Thank you for the exceptionally fast response! Expectations adjusted accordingly razz I'll just treasure that one volume all the more!
I'd still urge anyone who hasn't picked up the set to give the the samples a listen. Some really big, bold, beautiful music to be heard.

Amen to those praising the Superman 4-CD set. It's my very favorite of the DCAU releases (and I wouldn't have expected to say that a few years ago, though I always enjoyed the music). And includes my very favorite music from any of these classic series - "Little Girl Lost," introducing Supergirl and the Apocalypse storyline part 3. Granny Takes Control is one of my very favorite music cues.

Listen to the sample cue goodness here! If you don't have this, it would be a great companion for the Batwoman release coming tomorrow!

Obviously you didn't read my instructions. Most of you didn't. It amazes me how people on this board can't read.

I was really hoping for 2nd volume for SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. Here is hoping the current box set sells out and those who haven't gotten it, should definitely get it. I had never seen the series until this sets release and now discovering the series and the cd set I find that it has been a worth while investment.

Yes. The most prominent and best-known bits of music from the film are Hamlisch's adaptations of Pachelbel's "Canon in D". I recall the whole score being built around it, but for all I know, we may discover some more original, unused Hamlisch on the CD. Either way, I'm excited about this album!

I'm surprised people have made B: TAS so successful a fourth volume is coming, but arent' purchasing S: TAS anywhere near enough to even warant a second volume. Folks, it has some terrific scoring -- especially the three-part pilot. And a wonderful theme for Green Lantern:

If you have any love for Bats, you owe it to yourself to check out the Sups samples.

We are doing a Batman v Superman sale tomorrow to coincide with our new release of Batwoman (and a certain film that just opened up) ...giving folks a chance to pick up the STAS box set for just $40! That's 33% off! Cheaper than wholesale!

If you are on the fence about it, tomorrow will be the time to buy it!

Just sayin'...

Some component of the B:TAS vs. S:TAS sales would have to be predicated on familiarity with the source material - many more people watched and continue to watch B:TAS than S:TAS, and the online fanbase for B:TAS is fairly strong.

While somebody like me is bound to buy both, somebody who doesn't read FSM but might read World's Finest (a DC animation fansite) or just catch a whiff that the soundtracks exist from ads, Twitter, Amazon, something - is probably more willing to pony up the cash for B:TAS just based on nostalgia.

I do wonder if S:TAS would have sold better as a two-disc set (lower prices=more casual consumers)? Just idle speculation - I'm pumped that we got as much as we did before the dream went kaput wink

Just rediscovered the Superman set this past Jan. The science fiction sound of many of the episodes really sets it apart. What a pity more people don’t realize this music equalled and even at times surpassed Batman TAS. Everybody should own this if you like Walker and Co's batman music!!

Just to continue with the Superman love-in: even though I adore the Batman music, I found that Superman was often much easier to listen to. Batman could be challenging at times (though always rewarding), but Superman was more melodic. A breath of Metropolis fresh air, compared to Gothams more dark and brooding atmosphere. In other words; the music for both was perfection!
I really should have saved all this praise for the old thread dedicated to this release. I'll give it a rest now big grin

I'm looking forward to hearing samples from the upcoming Mystery of the Batwoman. I wonder if the score is similar to the "Chase Me" segment. The music in that only stuck out for me when I watched it years ago because it was a silent short (and such a cool one a that).

I wouldn't recommend "Mystery of the Batwoman", film or score. I panned the film big time over at IMDb.

"Chase Me" would have been far better had it gone with the old Catwoman design and was more mature as her earlier apparances before the re-design. It's the better score of the two.
