Georges Delerue scored a number of british productions throughout his career, one popular score being A SUMMER STORY.
American Friends (1991) is also another british production, the BBC in this case, as well as one of Delerue's final scores. And unreleased, though the tapes are probably lost.
I was kind of disappointed in this film. I'm a big fan of Michael Palin, and was intrigued at the thought of him playing a serious role (and that of his real-life great grandfather on top of that). It didn't hurt that I always had a crush on Trini Alverado as well.
But I found the resultant film rather perfunctory. Not bad, but not as good as I hoped it would be. And I felt Delerue's score was good, but not among his best work.
"Scenes at Oxford" is one of the best examples for what makes Delerue's music so incredibly beautiful: you don't have to know the context, you don't have to be able to understand the language but despite all that you can be deeply touched by the beauty of the music within seconds. This is amazing!!
I don't know anything about releasing-policies and contracts so please tell me why it is so unlikely that this score will be released! What is the problem with Abbey Road?

Who knows where the tapes reside, assuming they are still in existence.
If they did, it's likely a track or two would have surfaced on the 6-CD set. I would MUCH rather have a release of AMERICAN FRIENDS or PARIS BY NIGHT than HORSEMEN, but that's just me...

Not really, those the two movies are fairly obscure and there is the possibility that there wasn't enough room on the set.
I don't want to sound like i am repeating myself but sometimes it's hard not to like hearing another great Richard Rogers tune, another beautiful gem from Delerue.hope they find it.
