As I said in the first post, the most famous version over here is the German(?) TV series from the 70's. I actually have pretty fond memories of that.
There are some inconsequential informations about how and when the score was recorded.
The original "narrated" LP program is credited with "Music Composed and Conducted by John Williams". There are credits for two separate recording venues, one at Hamburg and one at CTS Studios.
The Label X CD instead reports that the score was recorded at Hamburg, but with orchestra conducted by Eberhardt Soblick.
I once read somewhere that Williams didn't conduct this score because of a composer's strike, but this doesn't explain why he's credited as conductor both on the film and on the storybook LP.
