I remember liking the score and the film a lot. But I didn't remember the music until I heard the YouTube clip. I see he also did "Lucas" which finally got a release some time ago.
-Salamander by Jerry Goldsmith has never been on CD before P.S. The tapes are missing still which has been brought up numerious times, unless they've finally surfaced like Dave Grusin's long lost My Bodyguard, but 2 CD's of it. Unless the score ran over say 80 minutes then maybe.

Do I ever hope that's true about MY BODYGUARD! One of Grusin's best IMO.
A poster on the Intrada message board alluded to the long-missing MY BODYGUARD tapes being found. Is it true that they have resurfaced?
This is false.
I spoke to the person who wrote that comment in private, and I believe he was trying to make a point about the tapes for JG's The Salamander. He did not mean to say that the My Bodyguard tapes were discovered at all; it's easy to misinterpret that as such due to the way he worded his post.
However, there still remains a glimmer of hope - Varese Sarabande has been hunting high and low for the tapes for over five years, especially after they had released Grusin's scores for Lucas and Author! Author! The liner notes for the Varese Club release of Author! Author! mention these details - but I wouldn't hold your breath for a release anytime soon.

That person should probably edit his post because I don't know how one can interpret what he said any other way.
I've been wanting this since I saw the movie opening night 35+ years ago. Takes me back to those years of haunting record store soundtrack sections in vain to find favorite scores.
There are so many unreleased ( mainly the awesome seventies scores!!!) GRUISINs to be released..he is highly underrepresented...
