Was shootist James Stewart's last film too?

Stewart would go on to have supporting roles in AIRPORT '77 (1977) and THE BIG SLEEP (1978).

RE: Seven Days in May:
The next to last scene where Fredric March castigates Burt Lancaster is a classic!

John Frankenheimer agreed and said it was one of the finest scenes ever for both actors!

And it didn't need scoring. The timbres of both March's and Lancaster's voices IS the scoring!!!

thanks Bob. I guess, probably a thread on its own, actors' last performances.
Or composers last films.

In the meantime, Burt rools.

Fred Astaire's last scene in FINIAN'S RAINBOW was a lovely swan song to his career in musicals, though of course he kept working in straight dramas, as was his wont. (For the record, Gene Kelly, whose broken ankle coaxed Astaire out of retirement for EASTER PARADE in 1948, coaxed him back into his dancing and singing shoes for their co-hosting of THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT! PART TWO.)

Does Stewart's TV movie he made with Bette Davis count or is this just cinematic releases?

"Right of Way" it was called.

Burt was a living legend actor, why hall-of-fame holly-wood only rank at 19 is odd. i don't have a favourite all Burt's films had quality, a tidy actor.

One-fact I couldn't believe is that Burt was frightened of water + swimming, Burt took lessons to build up his confidence + phobia before filming.

And that's why they call them "threads." Start off one way and you never know which way they'll wind.

(good though not to get too far off the beaten track...)

He was a veteran star in the early 70s when he was in 3 totally different westerns - Ulzanas Raid, Lawman and Valdez is Coming. Loved all three and Burt was most believable as a "fit old man who was still good at what he did."

i also loved another of his lesser-known 70s output, The Midnight Man.

A powerful presence and another star like McQueen and Bronson who understood the importance of movement, the way he walked on screen, moved, or just stood. Dont think i saw him in a bad film.

Never did find out the name of the mexican bandit in the Professionals.

If you're thinking of the leader that was played by Jack Palance, it was Jesus Raza (first name pronounced "Jee-SUS", NOT HAY-Soos).

No, he means the bandit that has him hanging upside down and slaps him. I don't think the character has a name.

exactly. The actors name. The one who threatens Burt with the machete and says "It is a sin to die with a lie in your teeth..!"
great scene.

I think the actor's name was, I think, José Chàves, but I'm not 100% sure.
