Was wondering if there is interest if this score was released. Am surprised that no one has ever released it yet. With so many great 80's scores being released recently, seems like a nice one for someone like Intrada to do as a special limited edition.

Maybe someone in the industry will see this post and consider it smile

I'm an 80's buff, but never heard of this one. What's it like?

I'd buy this in a heartbeat. Listen to those glorious mid-eighties synths...

Soundtracks are for squids! big grin

Sounds very nice. I'd definitely check out this if it were to come out with cleaned-up sound. The "End Credits" theme reminded me quite a lot of Jean Michel Jarre, one of my alltime favourites.

Trancers is a 1985 science fiction film. It was directed by Charles Band and stars Tim Thomerson and Helen Hunt. It is the first film in a series of six: Trancers (1985), and the direct-to-video releases; Trancers II (1991), Trancers III (1992), Trancers 4: Jack of Swords (1994), Trancers 5: Sudden Deth (1994), and Trancers 6 (2002). Jack Deth also appears in Evil Bong, but this appearance is not considered canonical.

This film uses a method of time travel: People can travel back in time by injecting themselves with a drug which allows them to take over the body of an ancestor. When Jack Deth arrives in 1985, he is in the body of his ancestor, a journalist; Whistler assumes control of his ancestor, a police detective; and Deth's supervisor, McNulty, borrows the form of his own forebear, a young girl.

Because of Helen Hunt's rise to fame in the 1990s, the DVD re-releases of the first two films have Helen Hunt's name listed first, then Tim Thomerson and Michael Stefani, respectively.

Thanks! Sounds intriguing, albeit a bit "cheap". I'll add it to my "to see" list in terms of franchises.

I'd read that Trancers 6 is something of a cheat, as Thomerson (as Jack Deth) only appears in flashback/clips.

The action cues for Trancers are pretty good. too.

Sounded really nice. But no one has credited the composers yet. Let me spell it out:

PHIL DAVIES AND MARK RYDER

I'd definitely buy this score. If it was all synths, does it make it an easier CD to bring out?

There have been more and more Richard Band releases in the past few years (thankyou!), so I wonder if this one might be on the cards?

Absolutely. Boy, the sound quality on these Youtube tracks is actually not bad.

I've championed this score for so long that I have no idea how far back it even goes. I've talked with Full Moon (though Trancers was made under the Empire banner) about it, and even Tim Thomerson (who naturally has nothing to do with that end) and no one is quite sure why this score never came to be. It was going to be released by a company called "Radioactive Records" which was probably an off-shoot of Empire that never happened. There are a couple of versions of the story that I have heard.

I know that Jay Woelfel director of the abysmal Trancers 6 (which is not really an official sequel and didn't even have the budget to get Tim to do a cameo) fought hard to get the rights to use the score from the original Trancers and eventually won. It is the films only redeeming feature.

I for one still would love to have a copy of the score. All I have right now is a boot that someone mailed me out of the blue. I believe it is the same one that is all over the net.

I hope Intrada releases it as it would go well with their Zone Troopers release.

Wow, thanks for that info. Did not know all those things about the history of the score. Would still love to see this one out by someone like Intrada. Seems like a small movie company would love to have the attention of having one of their scores released. Could attract some new viewers to an old classic.

While digging over internet for some info about Richard Band, I accessed his web page and at the bottom of 'store' third page there I saw written this line:

"CDs Coming Soon: TRANCERS 1 & 2, PRISON"

Could a Trancers CD album be just around the corner??!! Maybe Intrada?? I very much hope so, because I'm a huge fan of this kind of synth sci-fi scores.

That line has been on Band's site since at least 2011.

And I would happily dunk him in a shark tank to get a copy of the Trancers score. wink

Posted several times on the Full Moon FB page, posted again this week. Either a physical CD or a download would work for me.
