One of the greatest score he ever write, very dramatic and powerfull. I HOPE that someday DOYLE will write an INDOCHINE suite for orchestra .

I highly recommend this score; I saw the film and ran out immediately to buy the record. It is a grand scale epic work, one of my favorite Doyle scores. You won't be able to get some of those themes out of your head.

I buy everything I can find that Doyle brings out. He seems to have made a popular impression with HENRY V, then brought out a succession of great scores, like INDOCHINE, DEAD AGAIN, NEEDFUL THINGS, and MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. Other scores I love of his are MRS. WINTERBOURNE, A LITTLE PRINCESS, NANNY MCPHEE, and LA FEMME FRANCAISE. In my opinion, every Doyle score is worth listening to. Even the lesser ones, like LOVE'S LABOURS LOST, which is cluttered with mediocre performances of Cole Porter songs, still have some beautiful cues, which stand out like beacons.

With the announcement of a 4K restoration of INDOCHINE being screened at Cannes, i thought to bump this thread and recommend this magnificent score (perhaps Doyle's best in my opinion) for anyone that hasn't heard it. I think that not many people are aware of it because it's for a foreign film and we all know that the Hollywood movies and scores are more popular... (the film of course is great too! One of my favourite non-English speaking films)

Definitely my favourite Doyle score. The Main Theme is great, great, great and... great! Lush, romantic melodies, beautifully orchestrated. very well said (yes I know, I am a little late) ..it's just gorgeous, and I love the movie, too...it's so dramatic that's almost operatic, and the score is on the same page. If the Doyle-Branagh collaboration is justly legendary, something must be also said for the Doyle-Wargnier one, that originated almost as many gems. Good to know about the restoration of the movie, too; the dvd release that circulates here in Europe is not at all the best print...in the theatre the cinematography was absolutely gorgeous.
