I've just received my lovely new copy os Star Trek deluxe edition.

Question? How do I download it on to itunes and keep the track order of both discs, rather having itunes mix the two discs together by track number.

Is it me or is itunes REALLY user unfriendly sometimes?!!!

What I do is just when I pop the cd into the drive, and it brings up that message that says "Copy cd to playlist" or whatever it says, I just tell it no and then create a new playlist and drag and drop. Works great.

I just designate the first disc as disc 1 of 2 in the 'Get Info' section and the second disc as disc 2 off 2 and then the tracks don't all mix together! Also no need to designate the album name with Disc 1 and Disc 2 after the title.

When you are about to rip CD 1, make sure the edit the album info as "1 of 2." Do the same for CD 2, as "2 of 2."

And beaten to the punch...

Well the get info bit already designates each disc as 1 of 2 and 2 of 2......

Despite this it still mixes the albums together. Looks like I'm gonna be dragging and dropping.

When you import, just make sure that each album has a different name (maybe call the new release "Star Trek (Deluxe Edition)") - otherwise iTunes doesn't know you are importing a different album and confuses it with the original Varese CD.

Am trying just that now. Will let you know....

Mission accomplished albeit as two albums but I think I can cope with this minor inconvenience ;-)

So was all this advice covered by my annual support fee or will there be a surcharge on my account?

You can import it as one thing and change it afterward. It automatically imported them as separate albumbs, but I just went in and changed the info to reflect one. Just change the track numbers, then make it 1 and 2 of 2 CD to just 1 of 1.

Personally on my external drive, I have a folder called "iPod Playlists" which has all the scores I want to put onto my iPod. I then add a whole score to the folder, if it's 2-CD's, I just number the tracks 1 through what ever (however many there are).

Of course they're wave files on my hard drive....then I import them into iTunes, creating play lists for each score and converting them to apple lossless, then put them onto my iPod. I know that's a long way of doing it but for me it keeps it more organized and simple.

Can't say I've ever had a problem with itunes mixing tracks from disc 1 and disc 2. So long as the tracks have a disc number (you don't need to use the "OF" part just the first) then it should be fine. Try checking to see which column you have it to sort on - try clicking on the header of the first column (with the number of tracks). That should sort it correctly as you really shouldn't need to have two seperate albums for disc 1 and 2.

Alternatively, and what I do now, is just continue the track numbering, so if disc 1 ends on track 20 then the first track of disc 2 becomes track 21. After all, it is all the same album.

I've gotten into the practice of organizing my multi-disc score rips into single Virtual discs, with the cues numbered incrementally.

This way, my listening experience is "per score" rather than "per CD".

When there are alternate pieces, I often create an Alternate cues album with the alternates on it.

Looks like the main post about this CD is closed, so I'll ask in this thread. Any chance of a re-issue of this 2-disc deluxe edition. La-La, INtrada, Kritzerland, anybody? It took a while for Giacchino's Star Trek music to grow on my so I missed out on this and now its the only Star Trek expanded release I don't have. And I do not buy CDs on ebay for anything more than what would be a standard retail price, so there's no way I'm getting this unless there's a re-issue. Is there hope for me?
