I think JAMES HORNER did a great job on KARATE KID. The movie was surprisingly good as well.

But why we don't have a CD released in Europe? What a shame! frown

Can be ordered from Amazon.com - the cost of the CD PLUS the postage/packing is about the same as buying a normal chart CD - at least, it is in the UK.....

As far as quality goes, I was hesitant too so got hold of the company who produced the CD's - they replied that the CD is burnt from the original uncompressed data, and the CD certainly sounds like it.

If someone would like the evidence through spectral analysis, I am unable to do this as not a clue how, but give me an e-mail address to send a short uncompressed track to (assuming this is ok by the board mods etc) and I willl happily do so....

Just saw this movie for the first time. I had heard mixed reviews so wasn't expecting much, and didn't bother to check it out before now. I also hadn't heard the score except for one track.

Perhaps it helped that my expectations were low, but man, watching this sure made me realize how much I miss James Horner. His score was perfect. Neither the movie nor the score were exceptional, but they were both quite good. And that's just it. Even in an average movie, and even a fairly average effort, was still far, FAR better than the heartless droning music we get in so many films today. There were so many moments in this film where he nailed it. Horner knew heart. He knew how to touch mine through his music.

I will miss the excitement I felt at knowing that an upcoming film would feature his music, because regardless of the quality of the movie, chances were very likely the quality of music would still be excellent. It's been over 2 years now, but I don't think I'll ever stop missing Maestro James Horner.

This score was a surprise for me. After years of rather minimalist work, (probably not his fault) he returned to true form. The only thing that bothers me to no end was the abrupt ending. Really kills the whole build up.

We all have the Biebs to thank for that don't we?
