... do they look like the stereotype of British mums that I have in my head, namely, like the Pythons when they play mums?

And what is the stereotype of American moms in your heads?

Where's Eric Idle?

He was the hottest pepperpot.

That's what I remember them looking like when I was a kid in the late 50's, but they look pretty good these days. Fifty is the new thirty.

... do they deal with this?

Try asking them, willya? smile

In January, London's Daily Telegraph found three British companies in competition to sell deodorant supposedly made especially for women's breasts. According to one, Fresh Body, "We're replacing 'swoobs' -- dreaded boob sweat -- with smiles."

(Try asking your sisters about this, too. smile )

Does your 'Mom' look like Lucille Ball?

My mom's not really like a Monty Python pepperpot. She's a little like an aged Daria with shorter hair.

The stereotype American mom I see is a small, bespectacled curly-headed, interfering Golden Girls type woman.

My mum's like the Terminator. Always on her pinkies!

At one or two-and-twenty the bloom of an American lady is gone, and the more substantial materials of beauty follow soon after.

At thirty the whole fabric is in decay, and nothing remains but the tradition of former conquests, and anticipations of the period, when her reign of triumph will be vicariously restored in the person of her daughter."
(Thomas Hamilton, 1832)

The English woman, then, holds her beauty far longer, yes? And is still triumphing when her daughter is making her debut? big grin
